I think aspects of it are performative for sure when it comes to dating or meeting new people but ultimately who you are alone or with family or your closest friends tends to be geared towards how you were raised and the behaviors you learned from an early age - behaviors which typically align with core masculine / feminine behaviors

no what i mean is - when you put on clothes. they are men's clothes, and you've seen other men wearing them and they reify your belief that you look good, because you look similar to other men you've seen wearing those (or similar) clothes.

that in itself is a performance, you've taken in masculinity and you're now reflecting it back in how you present yourself

Yep. Gendered behavior is not something developed in a vacuum

Makeup is considered masculine in some societies, as is veiling

I don't think men are the ones behind this push for men to be more vulnerable. Many of us realise it's just women thinking that's what they want but we know a lot of them truly don't fw seeing a man expressing vulnerability

A lot of this s*** in jokes but there are earnest tweets in here. And it's mostly women

ehhh there are definitely some that are, especially ones that I follow

    instagram.com/expressyourselfblackman

Been following this page for years and the creator is a cishet black man that has been pushing for us to be more emotionally vulnerable. There's an organization called black men build where every sunday we have a man's circle (I go to it semi-regularly, I haven't been in a while admittedly for personal reasons) and it does get pretty deep.

And yes there are women that will push the patriarchy but also, you gotta wonder (for those that are earnest and not jokes) what was their background like?

What is masculinity lol? I always wanted to ask but didn’t wanna look stupid.

whatever you want it to be.

being non-binary on ktt is kinda weird sometimes - cause you forget that other people haven't obsessively read judith butler llol

years ago I had a whole argument with somebody that was dissing a mutual friend cause they wore nail polish and I had to tell them for what felt like minutes that nail polish was actually made for men and he aint believed me until he looked it up on google

  • No it’s real freedom if anything I can strong arm anything I want whenever I want, I just don’t do it because that’s how imbeciles solve problems

  • RIZGOD

No misogyny but this is what happens when you let women lead the discussion. They don't know wtf they want

Is gender a feeling or a way you act?

  • Scratchin Mamba

It highkey is, in fact male gender roles are more restricted than female gender roles

There's space for girls to act more masculine and for them to still be seen as women, if boys do the same thing they wanna be a girl or they're gay

    Shyt stoopid

Whoever came up with gender roles must not know too many people. This s*** is dumb

    2011 weezy would have been like “masculinity’s a prison… I just f***ed the warden”

  • Masculinity exists as the opposite of femininity

Its a spectrum that encompasses many if not all human attributes. Ultimately its convienent for nature and duality is a core part of everything

  • Something capitalism

  • Mark Moschino

this ^ gender is inherently a performance, there's no real way to present without the viewer (in this case the individual and society)

    Everything is a performance

  • You can define your own ideal and strive for that

  • This whole “don’t be too much x, but also too much y” thing applies to all gender, races, and social label

Everyone wants to hate and will find a way to hate so just do whatever

The movie is a remake of the 1932 adaptation of a book loosely based on Al Capone. Scarface is a nickname Al Capone got for having scars on his face.
