I think the answer is no because Lil Baby is original and Jack is not at all. Everything he does has been done before and better. Unless he can drop something like My Turn that won't happen. A better comparison is Post because even he is more original than Jack

Hmm... That's one way to see it but I don't agree. Lil Baby definitely has some major influences and he takes from rappers that have come before him. So does Jack. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Everyone has influences and creates their own style from that.

Yeah, but so far that doesn't seem like a space he can tap into because I don't think he's done that so far.

    Oh yeah for sure,

Was just saying I don’t think he can reach his peak unless he takes a page out of Durk/Baby/YoungBoy/Rodwave book

That pain rap is the wave

    Potentially? Yes.

A charismatic suave individual who Carries himself like he’s been here for a decade.

But like I said before, literally everything hinges on those curls not falling out

That being said, his album is due soon and we have seen nothing that reflects the rollout of My Turn.

    No emotionally scared

    No all in

    No Woah

    No sum 2 prove

Need to see that can make a hit without nostalgia samples

Overall I agree he needs to come with some different s*** this album but to your last point he’s done that twice with Whats Poppin and Tyler Herro

Fair point but with baby it seems like these huge smash songs are automatic for him

He drops hits like yeat pops pills

Like I just YouTubed lil baby and all his songs (minus the two new ones) are ones that I recall being huge and being played at every function or barbershop.

Also I disagree a lot with people saying he’s got the one up on Lil Baby because he’s white lol

Lets not fool ourselves, white people have the one up in almost every aspect of society, but hip hop is not one of them. White rappers gotta work twice as hard to get people to take them seriously, and even in that field Jack has a lot of work to do. That can easily be rectified if Jack DOES come with some real s*** this album, but we’ll see.

Also another point I haven’t seen mentioned is that he has no compelling backstory or life

Average white guy. Nothing interesting. I know that’s not technically musical but ow more than ever people develop a connection to thier favorite rapper(s)

It depends on what you call a compelling backstory. Jack been making music since he was like 13 years old, was selling mixtapes out his backpack in middle school. Was dropping consistent mixtapes since 2014 and didn’t blow up til 2020

Whereas lil baby was a dude young thug found and signed him to his label immediately

Wasn’t the story that thug discovered him and paid him to stay out of trouble and then eventually signed him

Nope. White people are able to reach people that black rappers wouldn't. Lots of people playing Jack Harlow don't even like rap.

Not sure honestly, but from a purely hip hop standpoint I respect Jack’s come up a bit more because to me it shows he’s always wanted to do this, even if his skills are lackluster atm. Not taking away from Baby’s come up because that’s just as commendable, but that’s just my opinion

And at the same time the people that black rappers reach aren’t listening to someone like Jack Harlow.

And those “I don’t like rap” people don’t outweigh real rap fans, not even close

Right now I’d say no because his music isn’t being received as well as Lil Baby’s but the moment the music clicks white people are going to start calling him top 5 and carrying him on their shoulders
