Yeah, I don't even think Jack is that talented or special but to act like he's an industry plant is wild. The dude has been rapping since he was a teenager and his come up didn't happen overnight.

People tried to say the same thing about Drake when he was coming up but people forget that when you're in the industry and trying to get on, you befriend many artists who are already popping and doing better than you. Drake was making songs with Trey Songz years before So Far Gone. He was working with all the big dawgs in the Canadian rap music industry as well.

On your come up, some artists might work with you before you blow up but that doesn't mean you're a plant. It just means you're someone who knows how to network and that's something you need to know how to do to manuever any industry. There's nothing bad about someone who can do that effectively.

I’m not disagreeing that Drake had to work hard as f*** to get where he is. That includes networking, dropping good music, etc, that’s all genuine

But you do acknowledge that he had a major help with Degrassi, right?

Degrassi did nothing for him in the music industry. Many people were surprised to find out he was on that show after Best I Ever Had took off. Even Wayne didn't know he was on Degrassi until a show when fans were holding pictures up of him as Jimmy Brooks.

If anything, it made him have to work harder to be taken seriously as a rapper.

Nah I gotta disagree with that, sorry. Being in the entertainment industry undoubtedly helped him with the networking early in his career.

Degrassi was a Canadian TV show. He was trying to get on as a rapper and you think that show helped him in any real way? If anything, people got turned off when they saw he was an actor trying to become a rapper. He has said as much himself.

Industry execs saw that Ariana could sing and she was a cute, white girl and they signed her off that. She didn't need to work too hard to get that.
