He wasn’t and produced a whole film on police brutality that y’all promptly ignored. He participated in a documentary on Black male
Violence in Toronto and y’all ignored that s*** too.

I guess his own fans ignored it too cause they don't ever mention that s***. This the first time I've ever heard of this.

And from a quick Google search for that documentary. Drake didn't produce it. He was only featured in it. The person who wrote, directed, and got the Canadians rappers to feature in it was a guy named Mustafa the Poet. S*** is only 11 minutes long too

Nigga how did you arrive to that conclusion about them bigging up Drake for not saying anything
It literally says “and goes on to compliment Lamar’s talent, and says that “aside from Drake, in my opinion, he’s probably the best hip-hop artist out there today.”

who cares. He made the point very clear that hes holding Kendrick under because his music is sociopolitical. Literally his reasoning for liking Drake more has nothing to do with the quality. Its simply because Drake makes safe music that avoids saying anything

I'm not saying that drake never did anything...
I'm saying that it's false to claim MJ never did political messages in his music
These aren't subtle references we're talking about...

    • The black panther dance got censored on tv...

    • They don't really care about us has lyrics such as
Kick me kike me don't you black and white me... If Martin Luther was living he wouldn't let this be

    • We are the world was a remarkable humanitarian effort orchestrated by MJ and Quincy
If I'm not mistaken, years later drake then joined the we are the world reprise for Haiti (2010), basically doing a charity song that was created by MJ and Quincy. If MJ song is just a subtle reference then what is drake participation in a cover of it??? Drake out here getting credit for participating in subtle reference political songs??? No it's a commendable effort

    • how can black and white be a subtle reference with lyrics such as :
"if you think about being my brother it don't matter of you're black or white"
I think you're disconnected from reality or just lack knowledge of basic history if that's "subtle" to you... I promise you it wasn't subtle when it dropped...

    • Mj also has songs like:
    • a) earth song pleading for mother nature (what about the elephants? he sang way back then, do yourself a favor and Google the conditions of elephants now...)
    • b) man in the mirror (look up the song if you forgot about it or just never heard it)

    • Mj outside of his music traveled the world to visit orphanages/hospitals and prisons to talk with the people

    • MJ whilst doing all the political work and apperently gave around 300 million dollars in charitable donations around the world...

MJ is the worst example of a popstar not being political if you ask me or the author of the book earth song: Michael Jackson and the art of compassion

Once again it's asinine to dismiss MJ work as subtle references...

He’s right. A mad ass nigga cool but that post was straight up hypocritical as f***.

How can you be a DaBaBy fan w/ a DaBaBy avy and then type a paragraph about Drake not switching it up?

I **know**you saw that hypocrisy too but since you try so hard to take the opposite opinion on EVERY Drake discussion you literally only can say it’s an “honest critique”

Him being a fan of DaBaby doesn’t make his opinion on Drake less valid

Matter of fact I know he’s a real fan because he acknowledges that Drake has been recycling the same subject matter for every album since 2016. Anyone who has been paying attention to Drake’s music from the beginning knows that

I think it’s corny to make fun of the artist in someone’s avi as if it makes the poster’s opinion less valid. It derails the discussion

I’m not a contrarian. I’ve given Drake more praise than criticism lol. Yall d***riding stans think anybody who critiques Drake is a hater

Some of us actually want to discuss Drake’s music without d***riding. I don’t see why you’re mad

In conclusion lol, this summarizes that his core fanbase are white americans, even non-american white people can get behind civil issues and talk about real-life issues.

He simply does not want to give up his white-suburban fanbase that are questioning their own racist behavior. If Drake gives off a hint of blackness this album then poof they’re gone, hence why you have him proposing this soft lover boy image. Couple years back when it was IYRTITL season he def had all the darkskin niggas shooting at the camera lens with their hands and hood niggas in look alive. Guess its time to ditch that so his fanbase dont get it twisted

You're either not black and pretending to be out just take take waaaay to serious lol

We know Drake ain't hood like that bruh. Obviously the whole niggas with gun gestures at the lens is for show and to come off as tough and cool. Stop taking it too serious
