All subjective of course just a fun discussion. Maybe they always been but they had their lows too
I thought about this yesterday and seeing how they just released their literal 3rd hit of the year and haven't missed in quite some time (with the exception of re3 remake apparently, don't know didn't play it)it feel like it's pretty obvious at this point. Idk maybe it's obvious but I feel like they don't get enough credit for the turnaround they have had since re6 and low key re5 too.
Some reviews saying Onimusha goty material and one of the best action games. They loved Pragmata (and at least that actually had an interesting new gimmick as well) and of course re requiem had most people extremely satisfied. I feel like they are top 2 or 3 tbh now. I'm willing to even put them over naughty dog at this point until further notice cuz Capcom is just pumping out classics if not yearly every other year and we haven't gotten anything from naughty dog this gen. Hell they may even be at the top right now.
I think they have been for quite a while now
Same I was thinking this might be a stupid thread tbh lol but idk I feel like they should be bigger tbh. Like I feel like I still don't hear of them as much in those discussions or something

I guess because they have such a variation of games people might just not realize they're all Capcom. Unlike people like Fromsoft, CDProjekt Red, etc who have a very defined style.
They're #1.
They actually release games unlike Naughty Dog. They actually update their engine, show technical foresight, and don't get by off reusing assets from 15 years ago like Fromsoft and Bethesda. They hit a wide range of games thanks to being a publisher that only Nintendo can compare to. Rockstar releases a game once a decade they're the Kawhi Leonard of gaming.
At some point I realized that most of my favorite gaming franchises are from them, so they been my Goat for a very long time. Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, RE, Mega Man...
Imagine if they brought back Lost Planet.
Man Lost Planet was one of the other games besides gears that really showed you what the 360 could do and that next gen gaming was here. Them snow effects back then

Damn you naming those franchises made me realize damn them niggas really are the creators of some legendary ass IPs. Like bruh you'd think being the makers of RE and maybe just Street Fighter would be enough but damn they got a straight bonafide catalog
They missed really bad with MH Wilds and lost a lot of consumer faith but Resident Evil and Pragmata seems like it got them a lot of the hype back

I hope that the MR expansion is their best yet. They can’t afford a mediocre expansion after wilds launch. They finally caught the base game up to speed, they need to just keep the momentum and finish on a strong note so we can forget about launch

Yep. They need to go out all out and specially have no performance issues, s*** was such a travesty and they took so long to sort them out for base Wilds
Reminds me I forgot about that Deep Down game they showed years back that never got to see the light of day. That looked like that was gonna be cold
