having to make up a name to privately shame yourself instead of just putting the phone down is crazy

    wow look at you

"put the phone down" im sure weve never heard that one.

should a depressed person "take a walk" ?

will I get the job I want if I "shake their hand and make eye contact?"

hundreds of thousands of youtube videos explaining methods to stay off your phone

millions of subscribers to app blocker apps to stay off their phones

"i cant watch a full movie" is becoming the norm now...

meanwhile im just here literally sharing a method to be immune to the billion dollar industry thats making you love swiping videos nonstop.

    whats your problem?

Buddy is in too deep he don't even know it

im just being very cautious is all...

i have lots of free time this summer, my dog is in daycare cause its too hot during the day.

thats all. so im making sure the boundaries are all set,
yesterday I posted a "Last of Us Part 2" guitar cover on my IG and felt great about it

little things like that can only happen for me if i properly set time aside.

my next goal is reading a graphic novel before bed instead of a "youtube video that winds me down"

i usually like horror gameplay videos like fears to fathom

  • another piece of advice I want to share that I love applying

(hopefully no useless "just dont use ur phone" replies this time

think of your brain as a dopamine cookie jar, dont give all the cookies away to mindless reels/shorts/tiktok scrollls

reserve as much dopamine as you can for yourself and you will feel the difference.

  • You ever try the Brick?

    You ever try the Brick?

i just googled it, fully support the idea.

thankfully im very happy with "Stay Focused" rn.

my settings are 5 total minutes of all social media apps. then automatically locks me out for several hours.

the key is zero willpower required, just let it lock you tf out. and watch your brain quickly go "meh... i dont really mind"

i even have a bedtime schedule that only lets me access essential apps (and I added google playbooks for my graphic novels) and audible for audiobooks

  • Benny Boy

The lady who wrote the book on this calls that comparison kind of glib and uninteresting

f*** i came here to post this

funny of her to say this when just about everyone reached out to her since she first released the book to talk about gambling becoming pretty much the norm for our regular lives and she was agreeing with just about all of it

  • anyways billions must read

Oh you play gatar, nice 🎸

And yeah, sometimes you gotta be rigid with your time cus it really flies by if you aren't

  • Tiigre

    im gonna do this tbh.

the problem with ktt is my brain is probably anticipating a notification/response more than the standard slot machine scroll + surprise.

it's like when you post an IG story and refresh the views and likes. laptop only sounds perfect

definitely try it bro, might help you out a lot

you sound like you live under a rock.

millions of users have "Stay Focused" or "AppBlock"

the "how to stay off my phone" is a very adult oriented issue worldwide.

nothing feels better than checking IG randomly mid guitar sesh and seeing "will unlock in 2 hours" and i put it down... its just an impulse check...nothing more, and the app reminds me to not even bother

I’m just roasting you my guy haha

When did you first let kids see screens?

idk cause diaper change is easier with a distracted screen. they are limited to one hour max screen time a day and that’s usually before their afternoon nap/lunch on weekends. no screen time on the weekdays, they got after school practices, homework and bed by 7pm-8pm, no later, no excuses.

they got a playroom, at home gymnastics equipment, and a big enough house to barely ever be in front of a screen
