I don’t think labels are restrictive as they were back in the day or as hands on as they’d be w/ a pop star that they invested in developing
There’s a lot less risk on the labels’ end with artists like Carti who are more or less self-sufficient w/ in-house teams
From what I’ve seen, most labels these days take a “ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach w/ successful rappers in the age of social media
