    80s is NWA. The nice respectable answer is Eric B cause NY is the Mecca and lyricism. They’re definitely #3 behind LL but where rap is rn has a direct line back to NWA upon arrival

    You really could argue LL tho too he’s the first crossover superstar rapper who was still a real MC, the archetype of the solo MC superstar
