that's fair, what do you think about him?
I feel like he get the corny label due to how his music was from 2008-2011, but 2012-14, he was hitting the right pockets lyrically that it was hard to deny that he was something else during that time.
2016 and forward is just him flexing his genius out.
I really think we would’ve gotten a rap album if his life never got caught up with kids.
I'll always have a place in my heart for Doris. That's a special one to me. Bro was still hilarious and out of pocket at times but was starting to embrace the murkier end of his sound. Plus the features were great. I think he made more consistent records after Doris but the balance in sound is perfect.
Damn Doris lowkey one of my least fav Earl projects, it has all time songs on it but I remember being pretty disappointed with it in real time. Im not tryna say its trash or nothing but the production abandoned so much of the OF sound which is fine but then it didnt really mature as much either so I wish we kinda got more energy from that album idk how to even explain it
But like I said dont get me wrong I still have probably listened to that album over 500 times in my life

I remember on release a lot of people were a little disappointed by it because the OF sound took a backseat, but it seems like it's grown on people a lot. Undeniably, this is an all-time run:
Burgundy
20 Wave Caps
Sunday
Hive
Chum

Drake being at a B in terms of rap ability seems...extremely fair?
I don't know man lol when I'm thinking A-A+ rappers I'm thinking of niggas like: Sean Price, Big Boi, Andre 3000, Jay Z, DOOM, Nas, Scarface, Jay Z, Mos Def, Ghostface, Phife Dawg.
And if we're talking more modern/contemporary: Danny Brown, Conway, Earl, Action Bronson, Boldy James, Freddie Gibbs, Lupe, Blu, Ab-Soul, Big KRIT, Mick Jenkins
Drake ain't rapping better than any of these niggas on a technical level. Sure he's a better song maker. But we talking straight up raps? Drake ain't touching these bonafide A+ cats with them basic ass bars man knock it off lmao
how you got 09 backpacker opinions in 2025 lool

I’m mostly with you but Action Bronson?
The singing parts
His rapping fire on that one too, aged a lot better than most of his s*** from that era
being a piece of s*** is corny
Idk why we acting like corny is a light thing to call somebody
Niggas be having more in common with the niggas they calling corny than the niggas they call cool
i dont like s*** i dont go outside always been the special one for me
I love that one
Some rap songs the one for me tho
