well i disagree
there are many games that justify it almost on artistic value alone. not to mention the hours, and potentially years, of entertainment. Throw in the large variety of skills involved and the nature of the economy and then you get games having a higher price range. Games should be priced at what they're worth considering those factors
“Art” most games that come out in a year suck

I can't name many games I'd consider "great" since 2015
The video game market is hurting itself tbh most kids play free to play games and the adults aren’t gonna waste their time on 90% of triple A games
You'll drop $100+ for a concert. I want everything as cheap as possible but this convo is never consistent with other artforms.
$100 experience seeing your favorite artist live surrounded by other fans isn’t quite the same as buying a copy of video game to sit in front of your screen for a few hours. I don’t see a $100 value anywhere for a video game
Gaming has been inflation proof for decades until finally the industry tested out $70. Gamers ate it up no questions asked. $80. Gamers will eat it up no questions asked (and even defend it!). Let’s see how far this goes..
I've personally always believed games should be priced higher. I always felt like I was getting peak for bargain (when playing peak ofc). When I actually got into development that belief was only reinforced
the economy needs improvement (general statement), valuable pieces of entertainment with work put into it don't need to be cheaper
games go on sale so fast now to warrant paying full price in general
I still do it though
Picking up GTA VI remastered for $50 during the 70% off sale 5 years from now
“Art” most games that come out in a year suck
what do you mean when you say most games lol
because there are 1000s of games released in a year

goldeneye for Nintendo 64 cost $69.99 in the year of our lord 1997.
u really think $80 is that bad in 2025?
nobody ever engages with this
i can't remember the last time i paid full price for a game on release
might have been cyberpunk actually
@DonkeyKong I love you so much, DK, but $80 is where I draw the line...
they already announced DKB is gonna be $70...

Bruh gtfoh u know most people wouldnt pay full price for 99% of the games that come out in a year. People f with the big franchises like GOW and GTA. Theres a reason the rest go on sale or get included with playstation plus

that's why I asked what you meant by most games
Just torrent that s*** lol
Look how quickly we got fleshed out, fully functional emulation of blockbuster singleplayers like BOTW and TOTK. If you have a pc there’s no excuse to still moan about the price of games
You need your ass whooped. At some point you have to develop a backbone. $70 was already much, $80 for the base game is outrageous.
At this rate, we’ll have $100 games by the end of 2026
GTA 6 will cost $100 and you will buy
Sybau
