So many rappers these days are horrendous live. Judging by videos, Migos sound like dog s***. It sounds like they are muffled.

there’s no artistic value in being the “best singer” to me

there’s countless incredible singers all over the world, i can go out on a street in a city and find multiple people that are better singers than my favorite artists

but channeling your talent into creating something of value to people rather than essentially just saying “hey look what i can do”? A much more difficult task that much less people are able to achieve

barely any. the criteria is weird too bc both Frank & T-Pain are great pure singers, but T-Pain’s whole style is about the effects regardless of his raw vocals, while Frank sometimes uses effects like autotune but he’s known for the raw vocals. so would both Pain & Frank fit into this category or nah?

Yes of course pain would. He uses the affects as a personal choice and not a requirement like most of these new singers. I’m also impressed you used pain as an example cause he sounds amazing without auto tune. His tiny desk concert really blew me away

If by great voice you mean a person that sound nice without vocal gymnastics like rihanna for example then yeah we can talk about genetic lottery
