Only two people here are powerhouse singers
Before you say “well yeah he’s a studio singer” let me remind you that Kim kardashian has a pop song
the only truly singers are singers that can sing live and sound like their albums
Drake, Bryson triller, partynextdoor, Tory lawns, and your favorite weed carrier one hit wonder artist is not a singer but a lame that uses good engineering and auto correction devices to sound good but can’t hit a note live to save his life
THE WEEKND is a good example of a pure single. Go listen to his live concerts especially during kiss land era
The guys you're referring to don't have range, and they don't have strong voices, but they very clearly can sing and have proven it plenty of times.

did i say they were powerhouse singers lol I just said they can sing
How does this video exist
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUl3oWouB5MThis was auto tune af bro stop it
music is no longer about how good your raw vocal cords sound. it’s about how you can make them sound with cool effects on them. listen to Frank Sinatra if you want some beautiful dry vocals

Show me
those drake videos you posted are not it
So many rappers these days are horrendous live. Judging by videos, Migos sound like dog s***. It sounds like they are muffled.
All of my favorite singers sound great live hehe.
The Weeknd is one of the best male live singers today. You can hear his passion when he’s on stage. I hope the tour happens next year. Never seen him live. I need it so bad

This is 100% true! But let me ask you so you do agree with my thread?

Grampa you have never told a lie :pog:
true
they’re not even close to the same type of music, but they go by the same name. that’s the new generation’s curse. it’s something completely different but will get compared to old school styles bc nobody bothered changing the name

What new school singers (2010s- do you consider as pure singers? Talent and skills wise
Low key you have a point lol cause I still listen to all the artist I mentioned
there’s no artistic value in being the “best singer” to me
there’s countless incredible singers all over the world, i can go out on a street in a city and find multiple people that are better singers than my favorite artists
but channeling your talent into creating something of value to people rather than essentially just saying “hey look what i can do”? A much more difficult task that much less people are able to achieve
Prince is a great example of this. His guitar playing ability was criminally underrated for a long time, because there was no reason to bring up his abilities when explaining to someone why he’s a goat. He made great art, it proves that

barely any. the criteria is weird too bc both Frank & T-Pain are great pure singers, but T-Pain’s whole style is about the effects regardless of his raw vocals, while Frank sometimes uses effects like autotune but he’s known for the raw vocals. so would both Pain & Frank fit into this category or nah?
They gotta be able to sing their national anthem live on tv
THIS TBH
and queen Taylor certainly can

Yes of course pain would. He uses the affects as a personal choice and not a requirement like most of these new singers. I’m also impressed you used pain as an example cause he sounds amazing without auto tune. His tiny desk concert really blew me away
having a great voice is genetic lottery so i’m cool with my studio singers
Great vocalists were trained by other vocalists.
If by great voice you mean a person that sound nice without vocal gymnastics like rihanna for example then yeah we can talk about genetic lottery
But that's really obsolete next to what regular decent vocal lessons can do for a person's voice
