I miss the old days when large scale rappers & their camp or label used to have multiple artists being pushed from within — I feel like the only person to most recently mimic this energy is Carti with Opium
Now Rap is a walking corpse with a bunch of old niggas from 10+ years ago desperately trying to hold on and boost themselves and only themselves anyway they can
50 had G-Unit
Ludacris had DTP
Kanye had GOOD Music
T.I. had Grand Hustle / Hustle Gang
Snoop had DPG
Dre had Aftermath
Ice Cube had Mack 10 / WC
Hov had Roc-a-Fella
Eminem had Shady Records
OutKast had Dungeon Family as a clique
You right, they don't make em like this no more.
MIKE and 10k
Fly Anakin and Mutant Academy
I see what you mean but they come off as underground I was talking about big name rappers

think this decade is settling in that the future is cooked tbh and so everyone is out for self.
most the best rap albums this year came from 30+ and up rappers (including OLD niggas). meanwhile it's like...we got MIKE and a few other youngins but that's kinda it.
It's already hard enough to develop talent within these camps without the pillars of...well development that used to exist during all these other popular camps (e.g. things like "A&R" or "artist development" back in the 90s and 00s it was these things that helped artists be discovered within the rapper's camp. Without it, everyone's kinda just winging it.)
vince staples most likely making more money off his netflix show than all his music ever did.

????
It’s literally still early to tell…

tbh a lot of the 2010s artists are just selfish and would rather use young talent to write feature etc as a tool to stay on top rather than putting their all into new artists but we still have opium, YSL, griselda, 10k, keem, dreamville tho
