They’re dragging PinkPantheress on Twitter with the clip of her saying she doesn’t listen to albums @op
it makes a ton of sense rly
theres no point in listening to other music when ur in that zone, cus in ur mind ur the best artist alive
also helps to be more original
I disagree
This is like saying not reading books would make your books more original
There’s a lot to learn from listening to other albums
Her albums are great but listening to other albums could enhance her creativity

Yea I mean listening to other artists isn't bad could give inspiration, but albums in particular is a dying format

I’d hate to see albums become a dying format. One of my only joys in life.

I think the new artists tend to focus less on albums than they used to, u can look at the spotify numbers most ppl pick a few songs off the album and add to a playlist
Amazing work @op

I also listen to playlists and tbf someone said in dance music it’s more about songs and sets than albums which is true.
Still I’d hate it if artists stopped releasing.

Yea albums are great I just think their relevancy in certain genres is pretty low

With dance/electronic I agree. Although there are some great ones.
Rap/pop I think they should stay. Rock/metal they’re obviously the most important.
Yuck she doesn't listen to albums and doesn't care about tracklisting
Nigga shut uuuuuuuppppp

Why people care about how others consume art is so strange. It’s a subjective and personal thing, she’s right. Enjoy it how you want to enjoy it.
Love PP but we can’t in good faith do the “let people enjoy things” argument that will definitely lead to diluting the art form
Playlists are cool but I always thought they were like a secondary or tertiary way to engage with music, always so surprising when I see ppl talk about then on the same level or above the album
I don’t think PP is this at all but there are more and more artists today that do such low effort, surface referencing that’s almost definitely a result on the way they consume music
Flash in the pan s*** that hardly ever sticks and is soo easy to see through

Lmao diluting the art form is such bullshit. This is just being afraid of change. The self expression of the person isn’t diluted, if someone chooses to listen to singles or albums. It’s just a different way of looking at it. You can look at something whatever way you want in art. If you don’t fw new artists, that’s fine, its not for you. Does’t mean its not resonating with other people.
She’s completely wrong. How do you make albums but not listen to albums?
That’s like a director not watching movies
An author not reading books
That s*** makes absolutely zero sense
Or maybe the individual song is it’s own thing, like a book, movie etc.. A short film or short story can still express what the artist wants to. I’ll always prefer a fully cohesive album for music though

She makes albums though, so her saying she makes albums and doesn’t listen to albums is the equivalent of an author saying they don’t read books

It absolutely is the diluting of the art form. There’s a reason that a vast majority of the most beloved artists of all time have at least one album that resonated with a mass amount of people.
Songs are short in nature. Albums are the way for artists to express a complete thought or theme in one singular package

Lots don’t. Lots of film makers don’t watch movies. They study old art. Miyamoto doesnt play videogames, he plays music. Just because you don’t like how someone is interpreting art, doesn’t mean it’s diluting the art form. Your way of consuming art isnt superior to someone else’s.
