Togashi never portrayed the bad guys as cartoonishly evil, they always have their reasons and he also never excuses their actions. Hell he does the same for the good guys too, oftentimes having them do immoral actions to make them feel more grounded and not the stereotypical good hero. Chimera ant arc Is just that, and since the beginning we have out MC befriending a serial killer, letting people die and even refusing to help another human out of selfishness. I think what hes doing with the troupe will be similar to how he dealt with meruem, in the sense that both will be clear antagonists but with sympathizing traits that doesnt excuse their actions, but explains their behaviors and why they turned out this way. The Phantom troupe always felt like a family of social outcast Who found strength in community considering the relationship between them, this just gave a context to that relationship. Having complex villains doesnt absolve them of their responsibilities, It makes them grounded in reality

Discussing morality in hxh Is so weird because like apart from leorio who Is truly morally right in this series lmfao. And this of course doesnt mean togashi condones the bad stuff he writes, its just a way to portray the story hes telling

30 more chapters whew, sad that the way its worded implies assistants will do most of the heavy work, but togashi storyboarded these so his pen will still be visible, and if the man himself wanted it then im good. Maybe we'll see the end of the succession war in reasonable time after all

The 30 chapters are for now just rough sketches, storyboars. What theyre missing are the inking, backgrounds, text bubbles, general refinements. Basically, what togashi would do when he'd post on Twitter. Since togashi wont do most of the work tho as it would seem it shouldnt take them that long to finish. There will still be hiatuses, but not 4 year long ones, at least until these 30 chapters are over

Nah togashi aint Fujimoto hes not trolling with this, his tweets about his physical condition prove it, plus these really are his assistants afaik

I think these 30 chapters are the only ones completely storyboarded, but i doubt he isnt sketching more chapters, he did write in a prior author's note he was inspired and wanted to keep drawing storyboars. Btw, imo succession war Is probably ending in at most 50 chapters without counting this batch, and certainly wont be the last arc of hxh unless there are unforeseen circumstances like yyh

I see. Im getting invested again in this story so I was just really hype about the news(still am). Glad we not getting years of hiatuses again tho (most likely). I'm really curios to see how he ends this arc, so many moving pieces its wild that he makes it work

Im so glad we're even having discussions like these tbh, around this time last year i wasnt even thinking about hxh considering the long hiatus we were in. Succession war was always to me a top 3 hxh arc, its only a matter on its positioning, so these chapters could change up a lot not only in the story but in my rankings as well. And you're totally right, I dont think ive ever read something as complex and multi layered as the succession war in another shonen manga, so many factions, characters and events, all masterfully interconnected, i really dont know how this man does it. He must keep a notebook with all relations, characters names and personalities and story bits by his side at all times. Hxh so goated, never have and never will take it for granted

Yeah man I havent thought about hxh in a minute It's hard for me rank arcs, but I can't wait to re-read it when its done. It's a lot going on so I think reading without breaks really going to elevate it for me. Absolutely, and I love how creative he is with nen-powers as well. It really is goated, my favourite fiction story
