Wait yall think drake signed a 500 million dollar deal with a publicly traded company and didn’t negotiate for stock options (aka ownership)?
Just straight cash? Niggas who work at Amazon get stock options.
He can buy 1 percent of umg for about 500 million at the current stock price
That’d pay out around 4-5million a year depending on how much money universal makes.
Easy 4-5 million a year.
Especially if you can do a couple of ig posts to promote a UMG artist, or a remix to make one them have a big year.
Like you said he JUST got a 500 million deal so I imagine he’d have been invested for quite some time and now he can afford more shares.
Also I’d imagine he has access to better stock options than a regular person since he signed a deal with them.
Not too far fetched to say he has ownership in UMG. Because I can have ownership in UMG.
Owning stock in a company doesn't mean you get a portion of their profits
Owning stock in a company doesn't mean you get a portion of their profits
That’s literally how it works. Look up dividends
The system is broken lol
business isnt personal tho. ye coulda owned everybody if he didnt blow his billions. that drake "you boys aint no businessmen" ig caption hittin rn
I’d rather be and most likely will be an artist with not a lot of money than be an artist that helps influence the system and be a chess peice for the system that artists have been trying to move away from for a long time
I think the internet will allow for more true independence in our lifetime. We are on our way there compared to the 90s and stuff. A lot of this stuff is like a two steps forward one step back kinda thing

S*** like this stresses me tf out, lol.
Corporate oligarchies that are too big to oppose and control the media? I suspected as much, but it still is upsetting to see it confirmed.
Hopefully one day we can stop things like this and just have direct relationships with artists. Until then though…
That s*** blew mind
s*** crazy, grown men dont know what dividends are, this why finance classes should be a mandatory in highschools smh
That’s literally how it works. Look up dividends
Look up how dividends are distributed
Not all the profit they made is being split up and given away
Also not every company does dividends

@op I was just looking into it yesterday and I think you cracked code
The whole beef has to do with Drake’s opps/former rapper friends finding out that Drake has some ownership of their music and they’re turning on him for it
It’s probably why J.Cole apologized at Dreamville Fest cuz maybe he caught wind of what the beef was about and didn’t want any part of it
yes and this explains why drake emphasis in Push Ups is music ownership and labels
