He said this is based on biweekly checks fwiw
800 is what my wife makes in 2 weeks tho
I meant my monthly salary. So every month, OP really saving 4x what I earn

Where do you live where sub 10k/yr is livable?
Or are you on a stipend?
@Butters1017 Dead af. That's how Saugatuck n SoHa are. Unless you're one of the ballers with a lake house, you're there working for the summer and then SoL in the fall/winter.
Thought I quoted the msg...

Doing an internship in a different country. I'm earning around 7000 a month in my currency, which equates to about 370 dollars

Oh well yeah that makes more sense if it's an internship
Still sucks but at least it's a short term thing
Chicago at this point is like " unless youre a finance bro, radiologist, or lawyer, f*** you, get your ass in the hotel the Adam and Eve lived in, its going to suck, but f*** you"
I pay 1500 for a s***hole. I'm looking elsewhere

I plan to stick with the internship for about a year, but the next step for my career will have me in a similar range for an additional year or two
Luckily I'm still living with my parents, but the legal industry doesn't pay well at all when you're starting
$800 from each paycheck is not enough ? Goddamn if I had $800 from every check to do whatever I wanted I’d feel like I’m ballin out of control
NY is expensive
Anything under $100,000 in a major city will be where uncomfortable
$100,000
30% tax
$70,000
Divide 12 months
$5,800
Rent
$4,300
Gas electric etc
$4,000
Netflix Spotify phone etc
$3,900
Insurances
$3,400
Student or other loans
$2,900
Food
$2,500
Transport
$2,200 left
This is just off the top of my head but a breakdown in a major city
If you earn less you'll notice you won't save that 2k because there's always life expenses that add on

Damn I had no idea law was like that.
Psychology and social work can be similar, but it really depends on the track you go. If you do research, it's essentially just as bad

Tax and food need to be increased my bro. At least 40% taxes in nyc

New York is its own thing
I'd actually recommend being broke there over trying to live some low six figure lifestyle
Much more fun life experience

There's a certain time period you need to spend working before becoming an attorney and that's classified as "training" so employers take advantage and underpay people
Government pays a lot better but the room for advancement isn't as good
I majored in Industrial psychology, so I have that option. But it's not really something I enjoyed studying and I think you need your Masters before you can really get a high paying job in the field

It’s easier to have more of a disposable income in NYC because of the transportation. Having no car note, gas, insurance, or maintenance to pay saves a few hundred or even thousands.
LA, San Fran, Atlanta, Houston etc. with no car and you will pay a car notes worth of Uber charges
Per month, after rent and bills, I have anywhere between 15-25k to spend as I please and I’m still unable to do literally anything I want at any time I want
It’ll never be enough unless you’re disgustingly rich and even then you’ll want more anyway

Everyone always wants more. People making less than me want more. People making more than me want more.
That’s life. Would I say I’m comfortable? Without question. But that doesn’t mean I’m satisfied.
