Look the 2010's made it a thing. Before that we expected artist to have a hook written for them, or a song idea laid out. We still expected the artist to take it from there though. Verse collaboration's is a 2010's phenomenon. Drake was birthed into that atmosphere.

Still, we know Drake can rap his ass off.

Drake could’ve been took the classic album goat slot from him if he wanted it but he prefers to create safe mediocrity for the masses.

We all know Drake got the talent and the consistency and the hits etc but he has yet to execute a masterpiece album worthy of the type of acclaim that Kendrick and Kanye get. He can drop 2 mixtapes and 4 albums in 1 year and it still won’t matter if he doesn’t raise the bar.
