He considered one of the goats because of his past in the 90’s. Y’all forget that time existed back then lol

Every Em thread that gets made y’all rewrite history and act like these accomplishments aren’t accomplishments

What past are you talking bout?

The thing about Eminem slander is that’s it’s WAY too late to challenge his place in music history. The narrative is already set in stone.

Michael Jackson will always be the quintessential pop artist, no matter what kind of amazing music future generations of pop artists drop.

The Beatles will always be considered THE rock band, even if they’re not your favorite.

Michael Jordan will always be the greatest basketball player, even if another player beats all his records and achievements.

and Eminem — like it or not — will be considered the GOAT of rap by the worldwide masses when it’s all said and done. Even if he doesn’t have the most classics or the most innovative songs or whatever.

and that’s simply because his music has touched more people worldwide than any other rapper. There’s just no way around it.

The GOATs in every mainstream music genre are beloved enough to sell out stadiums (not arenas — stadiums). Hip-Hop, the biggest genre in the world, has only produced ONE stadium act in nearly 50 years. Guess who?

Prince is my personal favorite. I believe he’s the greatest artist in the history of popular music, but I know that most people will never put him above Michael Jackson.

    It’s too late.

Yeah alot of mc's came up from battle rapping....
I watched this doc on Detroit rap scene that said nobody counted him out because he was white. Eminem stood infront of a black audience and started shouting "say f*** that Honkey", the footage was so wtf, soon as I find it, I'll post it here .
I'm just saying that we don't have footage that suggests he was the best or even better than average at battle rapping... (unlike what he portrayed in 8 mile whe wasn't on that level in real life)
He himself admitted that he would have breaks with rapping because he thought he sucked (listening to treach from naughty by nature made him not rap for an entire summer-his words verbatim).
Edit: tge doc I talked about us called "the untold hip hop story, Detroit"

But to write it off as “he wasn’t good there isn’t proof” is just dumb.
He wouldn’t have been put in front of Dre if he wasn’t good at battle rapping and the host of the battle rap place (Proof) wouldn’t have f***ed with him like that if he wasn’t good at it.

Yeah look how they did Elvis though... The legacy is set in stone but what does that mean exactly ... he represented white privilege at its finest. His whole career he had white and black fans but also detractors calling him a rip-off/overrated etc because he was white doing black music..and being elevated over better musicians (look up little Richard) . Elvis, contrary to what most believe doesn't have a single racist incident reported or documented
There's only a rumor that got debunked...

A decade after his passing the narrative that he was racist won, as public enemy rapped in their notorious song fight the power

Elvis was a hero to most
But he never meant s*** to me you see
Straight up racist that sucker was
    Simple and plain
Mother f*** him and John Wayne.

Eminem likened himself to Elvis before, people have accepted that he has surpassed all his peers on the strength of a brigade of primarily white men relating to him (stans)

He is very famous but not as respected, truly controversial + he actually has a racist documented past (which he has apologized) that can always come back to bite him in the ass like Elvis.

Several young rappers already don't shy away from critiquing eminem's music...
I wouldn't be surprised when eminem gets that "public enemy" treatment and no one bat's an eye..
Prince and Michael are regarded as musical legends who died too soon and were treated unfairly by the industry (prince vs Warner disputes and mj having to fight allegations and being slandered...) they both fought for more than themselves whilst eminem career focus was being praised as the best despite having sold the most (remember kamikaze)

Michael is seen as a top notch entertainer that chose to sing about bringing about change in this world and prince represented artistry, musical excellence and creativity.
Elvis, mj, prince are not remembered for the same things and eminem will most likely not be as well.

My man, I just told you that there are other people than proof that we're there that tell a different story...
There's no solid evidence outside of hearsay that he was better than average at battle rapping. The footage we have doesn't show us he was better then a Masta Ace for example (look him up)

Proof gave em the confidence to continue rapping even when he felt like he was trash....

You probably didn't know that before being signed to dre em stood outside of usher concerts to slang his mixtapes (according to royce da 5'9, that's where they met)

eminem said himself, the tapes got him noticed by dre, not battle rapping although he did toss a tape at someone after losing a battle rap, and that tape allegedly got to dre and what he heard on there intrigued him enough to invite em, and they clicked...

Also dr dre signed and worked with a plethora of people who never popped off in the same era as eminem (look up hitman, slim mobster....) you probably didn't know that dre labels was in crisis at the time (according to him), they didn't want to risk signing eminem (him being white wouldn't go well in the heavy g-funk market dre occupied) but dre signed him because he truly liked the vile s*** (which spice girl am i gonna impregnate) he was rapping and along side proof encouraged
him to be as nasty as he can be (all of this according to dr dre/eminem themselves )
