    Lil Tecca got a hit off of something that sounds a ton like Pharrell’s Frontin

    Artists like Rsieh Raxan and 3ee have been getting really good at approximating and modernizing the pop side of the Neptunes’ 2000s sound

    You could even argue someone like Tommy Richman fits here

    Now in the wake of Tecca’s hit we have underground rappers like Yung Fazo using super Neptunes-y synths

    Is this just a flash in the pan trend? Is it a return to something with a little more musicality in the mainstream? Is it just the nostalgia train arriving right on time? Lmk your thoughts

    uninspired asf and overdid to death

    especially considering this “revival” is based on like two to three songs and doesn’t highlight how versatile chad and pharrell were

    This was kinda being done last decade too wit obviously mainstream guys like Tyler bearing his influence on the sleeve. I remember a NYC underground rapper from The old beast coast/New New York wave had some buzz wit a song that had a Neptunes sound. I think he was from phony Ppls.

    But yeah me personally, the beats are cool but It don’t really hit the same maybe because I’m not that Into the artists that do it

    @op just watched the video.

    Honestly, the thing about these new artists that tries to make Neptunes s*** (outside of hardcore fans like Tyler and Me) is that they lack heavy arrangement skills and knowledge of older music whether that's Pharrell or other artists music.

    To create something extremely close like Neptunes, they have to do a extreme deep dive and listen to their whole discography with vocals, without vocals, the interpolations they done, just simply EVERYTHING.

    Honestly, I feel like these artists just look at the face value details instead of what the actual core elements.

    TL:DR: I can smoke these niggas with my own knowledge.
