serious q for people bc i think this is relevant to the OP: as a cis-gender man, would it be wrong for me to change my pronouns to they/them?
I still can't see how it will really benefit. Make a great impact. Can anyone elaborate

if you feel they/them most suite you then no.
but in that case you wouldn't be cisgendered

It prevents an entire group of already marginalized individuals from having to do something else that makes them stand out even more (tell people their pronouns when nobody else hypothetically would) and could result in anything from feelings of personal shame or embarrassment to even verbal or physical assault
im still not seeing and valid arguments other than to spare the feelings of others online. which isn’t really as productive as one might think. just because everyone has BLM in their bio doesn’t mean there aren’t still racist mf’s in my southern city. that s*** looks good but in my opinion there hasn’t really been much of a change from it, so obviously i’d think pronouns are practically useless, i just think it’s a smug way of saying i’m better than you because i do this and you don’t. same with BLM a lot of the times. again, i came itt for insight and i haven’t gotten much from you

Dont think it will catch on but it helps more than harms 🤷🏿♂️"
Seems valid to me

Ohk this is a decent explanation

i would consider and identify myself as a straight male
my ideology behind changing my pronouns is more geared towards wanting to move away from the idea of individualism.. i would want my pronouns to be "they/them" in an effort to always be referred to as a part of a collective (as in, when referring to 'me', you're never just referring to 'me', you're referring to my team/my collective, etc - even i would not refer to 'me', i would say 'we') whereas "he/him" makes me feel like an individual.
but i'm hesitant bc i feel like i would be barking up the wrong idea/misusing pronouns
I can't help you if you don't think destigmatizing behaviors and creating a better environment for trans and non-binary people is a "valid argument".
it’s not that it isn’t valid, it’s that it’s not practical, it’s never gonna get popular enough to spark real normalization, because it’s really trivial and met with vitriol all the time. people don’t like doing s*** they feel forced to, and when there is a lack of reasoning, they feel forced, when they get insulted near instantly they feel forced. it’s just unrealistic to think people will care about something so trivial, you keep saying protecting people from being misgendered, i’m sorry i just don’t think that is catastrophic, im of the opinion that it’s no big deal to speak up for yourself if someone misgenders you, i’m black and been in the south my whole life, that s*** just doesn’t pull my heartstrings like it might others. reminder, i’m asking for understanding and insight, not trying to be combative

i dont think anybody has BLM in their bio to be smug, that's merely your incredibly unpopular interpretation. there are a lot of people who use the blm in their bio or whatever super shallowly (eg companies that have 0 black employees or pay black employees less saying BLM in their bio) and there's definitely a conversation to be had about that. but even then it's not to be smug over anyone. i think if you asked 1000 people why they have BLM in their bio, you wouldn't get a single answer that remotely resembles "to be better than people that don't have it in their bio"
furthermore, no change comes overnight
would you call off the civil rights movement right when mlk got arrested because there was still racism around at that point?
the point of the recent blm protests was to get change in policing in the nation and seek justice against cops that wrongfully kill black people--it had a very specific goal. no one movement can just get rid of racists altogether.
also, define what makes an argument "valid" or not, i think you need to set some parameters down because that seems very subjective to you

So we shouldn’t do anything good because it might not work? Lmao

We have all explained why and you keep making reasons to downplay or dismiss it so idrc
