growth isn't a symptom of corporations and capitalism

    it's a symptom of humanity

i actually agree from a physics perspective but economic growth has to be scaled back so our civilization doesnt end.

if that gets reigned in you can think about the tech advances that would allow growth in the most literal sense to continue

You’re moving the goalposts and doing too much

Lion would die because of either poaches or its natural habitat being destroyed for unnecessary monetary gain

Which would also affect you as the constant harming of the environment means more environmental disasters.

Nothing really to do with kill or be killed.

Who are you to declare that the monetary gain is unnecessary? The same way who am I to declare that the lion didn’t have to kill me bc he could’ve ran a few miles somewhere else and killed a deer instead

We all have free will and the right to exercise it. You have no moral obligation to any species besides your own. A lion isn’t going to think twice about saving your ass so don’t think twice about saving it. If you want to get into the conversation of, saving the lion and preserving the natural food chain/habitats is going to be better for us and will actually “save” us in the long run... sure, I think that’s a valid argument too. But I just don’t think we should regulate self destruction nor self sustainability

If someone is about to pull out the jenga piece that is going to tumble the whole thing down, SUre u can tell them not to do it but I don’t think you should be able to cut off their hand so that they just aren’t even able to pull the piece out anymore. Educate them and if they f*** up they f*** up, if they heed ur advice then cool

But I guess u are trying to say that the entire human species or earth is one big Jenga tower and that some people that keep pulling pieces out is going to ruin it for everyone, yourself included, and so the only way for you to survive long term is to actually literally make it so that they can’t pull that piece out and f*** u up in the process as well

It’s inherently very volatile and has issues

However I think it’s still the best system as I don’t believe in socialism (however I do like some ideas from it)

Everyone will become the people creating the automatons. And we will all be artists (which is why we all already have social media Rn, baby step of an eventuality)

Do you think majority population even has the income to even start artistic career

I think we are little sheltered when 800 million people living on 1.90usd a day

also the internet example is poor given that its an oligopoly with terrible and unethical service (the loss of net neutrality and its consequences)

See, the net neutrality thing is a political thing. Which is why I was saying that’s the government job

From a capitalist point of view, the best possible thing you could have is slavery. Literally free labor & you get to keep all the money. From a government point of view, tho, the best thing you can have is a guarantee of a certain quality of life for your citizens. Being a slave =/= high quality of life. So these are 2 opposing forces already and that’s fine. They should be. We just need to find the line in between of where things should be. I don’t think things are good right now but that’s for a myriad of reasons

Capitalism is like, trying to take advantage of every form of leverage there is. Time, people, money etc. the government should be empowering its citizens so well to the point that they can’t be taken advantage of past a certain point. UBI is a good place to start

I can’t speak on a global scale for right now I was talking USA. Anyone can be a SoundCloud rapper or start a YouTube channel (yes YouTubers are artists) in USA . But as far as globally, eventually, yes. Probably a long way down the line

How much money were those same demographic of 800 million people making 100 years ago? And 10 years ago?
I guess however much money Americans are making on average today is how much those 800M people need to be making every day before we could say that everyone could be artists and if you look back 100 years , if the data is available, And compared it to the 1.90usd today... just examine the rate of growth per year then multiply that out until they are making as much money as average American and then you’ll know how many years we are away from that point (assuming we keep that growth)

you should go thank the child slaves and starving derelicts for being able to spend the limited time of your "great life" on ktt

you can think however you want - im not going to act like i have all the answers

capitalism affords our whole country the opportunity to be whatever you want to be and do whatever you want to do

it may come at the expense of other people around the world, much like fighting and conquering land ended lives hundreds of years ago. in our society today, weve moved so much further past being able to go backwards (esp technologically), without essentially the world ending that its the only realistic direction to go

yes - by chance im here on ktt enjoying my great life and im very thankful for that. couldve been born knitting soccer balls in thailand
