And they don't overrate street rap?
Nope. Street rap is more influential. Without southern street rap and trap music, the SC era wouldn't have been a thing and the landscape of a lot of music, in general, would be different.

Being more influential doesn't equal to being more innovative and objectively better sonically. That way you can say the most basic music is the most influential even though it's outdated and sonically bad
Youngboy is ass no getting around it
Discovered today that he makes “ pain music “
street rap is and always was the core of hip hop, sc rap was just a cringe ass phase that only birthed 2 actual good artists (uzi and carti)
Carti is part of SC era wym
Hi tho :) :)
2015-16 era sc rap was goat, it fell off after uzi and carti went mainstream

What innovation? SC rap most people refer to is either rap-rock which has been a genre before soundcloud has been thought of or the sound of niggas rapping on 90s 36 mafia-style beats plus whatever drum programming was happening in mainstream rap.

Lowkey tru uno fauni pollari kept it going a lil but didnt last
Every era of music has its highs and lows. Soundcloud gave us GOATs like Carti and Uzi, but also a ton of garbage, but now that the SC era is ending we only think of the highlights. Same thing here, there are some really talented rappers, some really horrible, in a few years during the next changing of the guard we'll only remember our favorites. Honestly best this way

Emo rap for an example. Wasn't a sub genre before
