    So I'm wondering wtf that is

    I've seen that s*** a million times, this is the first I'm hearing of any sort of alternate cut

    I think that guy is a little loose with his wording and s*** sometimes, like he’ll put up a 35mm print of a movie that was actually shot digitally without making it clear that it’s just AI upscaling on his part. So you’re right to be skeptical IMO

    AI upscale is nice for some things but people just be using it poorly sometimes

    for movies that only got released on crappy formats it really do be working miracles. seen some upscaled laserdiscs that look really nice.

    For color grading and the creation of artificial film grain, yeah; nothing to the extent of like, creating new scenes or any of that other egregious s*** that AI guys love to pretend would be useful or worthwhile

    for movies that only got released on crappy formats it really do be working miracles. seen some upscaled laserdiscs that look really nice.

    I've always been a "you must watch early 2000s Jhorror in 480p with hard coded subs" kinda guy so I don't believe in that but I'm glad people get something out of it

    I’m pretty sure he’s been called out about it, but sometimes they’ll have 35mm trailer scans and will create restoration based on the trailer scan
