Had to make a thread because this seems so random but also maybe a big deal kind of? Idk wanted to get everyone's thoughts on it. Trailer looks alright but hard to gauge what the politics of this film will be. Here's the synopsis:
explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won — and lost — through the blood, sweat and tears of many. Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Costner’s ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America.
Also to note, this is just part 1 which releases in June and part 2 will release in August. In addition, this was majorly funded by Costner himself which is interesting this is coming the same year as the self-funded Megalopolis by Francis Ford Coppola. Anyways, here's the thread.
Read about this a while ago and thought it was ambitious to have the second part release in theaters a month after. I like westerns so hopefully it’s good
this was pretty good, definitely felt like just a set up for the next movie but that comes out next month
Wow. Feel bad for Costner bro bet it all on this

Finally watched last night only for this news to drop today
How is it? Haven’t heard of it but I like westerns
seen this on my movie ticket app and thought it was just some streaming show they put in theatres
why is the first one over 3 hours long

I actually enjoyed it however there were def some clunky scenes and it's overly long for being the first part of a 4 movie series. If you like the cast and enjoy modern westerns I think you will enjoy it for the surface level fun it provides. It's not deep and it isn't trying to be. I'm excited to see the rest.

https://twitter.com/discussingfilm/status/1811099970184855895Dude self sabotages his career with these passion projects every time
Yellow stone brought him back as a star and he ditched it for this, which is likely to be Waterworld levels of flop and the remaining movies (if they get made) are destined to be str8 to streaming
