The instagram post was the focus of the thread. If I’d meant it to be the album discussion thread I would’ve formatted it that way.

Find it weird to be renaming locking and deleting threads without consulting the OPs. Obviously that’s always been a thing but seems like this new change is creating a pretty drastic shift in the way people engage with this site. It’s a forum afterall, not a publication.

were you somehow under the impression that people were just gonna discuss the album announcement in here & someone else would make a new thread when it dropped? i’m genuinely confused what your thought process was

Is that not the logical conclusion of removing artist threads? Let the f***ing thread exist—if people wanna discuss the album here in two weeks when it drops then great, I’ll change the title so you can pin it. Til then f*** off or lock the thread and make one yourself. Go ahead and mute me til 9/11 while you’re at it.

no, artist threads are only temporarily locked due to people using them as album threads for multiple different album cycles. there’s nothing inherently wrong with artist threads, as long as they don’t suck up album discussion as well.

i’ve seen dozens of threads that started as one album thread, then posters started posting the next album’s promo in there instead of making a new thread some months later & it became the next album’s thread, which became the artist’s thread because the op got a big head about it, which then became the next album’s thread, etc.

artist filters/sxns will soon replace that desire to have all discussion on an artist in one place, because the threads will all be in one place (it’s already on the site). artist threads to discuss the random stuff between albums like social media updates etc. will work perfectly with that format as well & will be unlocked soon. but the tendency of a lot of users on here to control all discussion of an artist’s albums because they’re the op of an artist thread went too far, so the site needed a reset.

When did he become MAGA Christian?

Ironic as his entire gimmick during the Odd Future days was being an atheist with disdain for religion

I want to say at the beginning of the pandemic he released an album that was very based around him finding God. He clung on to Christianity super hard for a bit and was running around wearing MAGA hats

Thats not what “phasing out” or “sunsetting” implies at all though

I know you guys have been trying to push artist sections but it’s so ridiculously clunky and unreasonable for every artist to have their own section when the thread format works perfectly well. Less threads with more posts is, buy-in-large, certainly better than thread saturation no? Giant ongoing threads are part of the charm of this site. You land a big thread, it’s something to feel proud of, it stays active as long as the users allow—it’s self sustaining.

yea i def worded it wrong when i posted that

the intention isn’t to get rid of that type of discussion, we want it to keep going, just while also making sure that discussion of the projects artists pour their hearts into (no matter how small an artist) doesn’t get lost in the pages of a megathread.

it won’t look how artist sxns like Drake sxn look like. this is what Hodgy’s “sxn” (idk if sxn is the right term for it still) looks currently (you can change the url for nearly any artist): ktt2.com/music?artist=hodgy

megathreads etc should thrive there, but it looks so much worse for small artists if all discussion of their music happens in one thread vs. discussion being spread over various threads

I guess we’ll have to see how that affects engagement. The changes are yours to make.

I was initially more bothered by being crowned OP of the official GAYNGSTA thread prematurely.
