Where are y’all getting this from that all these albums were mid?
Becuase a handful of those projects got a lot of praise and acclaim at the time when they came out and hit boy was getting accolades and won best producer of the year awards
im not revising anything i always thought those albums werent all that besides the first kings disease and magic 1 and judging from itt im not the only one with this sentiment

They're great but that sound might as well be the new dust for as much as it's been done since 2017. Hit Boy can go to reddit for 30 minutes and sound like those niggas but can they do what Hit Boy does/did across eras since 2007 to now? Can't Pierre or F1lthy even begin to formulate a beat like Clique with no predecessor to imitate? No they can pretty much only do the sound they're known for and that's why rap's sound has swallowed itself since 2016
This is also why Pierre's music relatively sucks outside of occasionally he'll catch a head nodder vs. why Kanye is Kanye lol (and I know someone gonna bring up Hit Boy's rapping not really hitting but he just don't got the swag on the mic)

We just remember a rap game before every beat being a knockoff of 808 mafia/pierre/Gentle Beats Beats By Taz/whatever generic trapslop of the month. And these original guys who innovated these waves I'm naming are cool but they've ruined the average listener's ear to call normal hip hop beats trash in favor of repetitive fast hi hat and 808 music that is just gonna give us the same flows, topics, ideas etc. since 2018
