“If Young Metro Don’t Trust You I’m Gon Shoot You” tag made Father Strecth My Hands even better. And probably boosted Metro even more.
A Snapple fact
!https://youtu.be/wuO4_P_8p-QIt is funny Kanye said that Hit-Boy when the most iconic things about this song is the sample and metro tag
Jokes aside I agree with both
Wheezy throwing his tag on Lord I Need You for that weak ass beat drop was unnecessary.
But it all depends on the song, I think if the tag is dope and enhances the experience of the song then by all means throw it on there and also get ur recognition. Just know that if your sound is super unique it won’t be necessary
i think kanye was going for a metro FSMH type of moment by having wheezy's tag there, but it didn't really hit the same way and felt unnecessary tbh.
Just make sure the tag sound hard and you straight
Internet nerds gonna come itt and pretend like their music experience is ruined by a tag though
I know for me though, only reason I have a tag is if I’m collaborating with other producers and they have a tag as well. If they throw a tag on the song imma throw mine on as well so it doesn’t feel like they the only ones that did the beat
Like look at On God by Kanye. Pierre put his tag on that and he only did the drums, and those drums were not even lit. The best part of that beat was the melody and nobody even knows the name of the dude that did the melody cause he ain’t put his tag. But it feels like Pierre did all the work
Ye a legend for that advice. Tags cheapen beats.
“knowing the producer will be recognized for their work without having to google who produced the song ruins the song for me”
Cause he’s the most pretentious and elitist producer in the game at the moment. Dude thinks just cause he knows the definition of a chord progression and used an orchestra 3 times he’s some next modern day Beethoven who perceives music better than his peers.
I like Tyler but this is facts
And you real for giving him props for his unique sound. Listening to Por Vida by Kali Uchis for the first time, I immediately knew which beats he produced on there
Ye a legend for that advice. Tags cheapen beats.
Having a signature sound like the 808 Mafia Kill Bill siren or Pharrell's chop at the start is a classier way to go about it, but you should definitely be able to tell it's your beat. I only find them annoying when there's an entire mixtape with the same tag on every beat.
Pharrell got the best of both worlds with that 4 count. It's not in your face but when you hear it, you know it's him.
The only downside is, anybody can do it. I was convinced he produced Borderline by Solange when I first heard that song
Yup Pharrell a genius for that s***
This man will blame anyone and anything other than his own mid beatmaking
Stop
He’s one of the best producers on the planet
Also crazy how ktt is apparently pro-workers yet they don’t want producers to watermark their s***
Especially when it’s common for them to be screwed over and not paid for beats
Like I said in another thread, moral posturing for ktt likes
"Cheapens the music" Man shut the f*** up. Lotta times the producer tag sets the track off right

This fool talking about tags when he need to be tagging some better beats
He need to tag some b****es
imagine blaming your success on a tag lmfaoooo
hit boy resents kanye so much
i kinda feel bad
He’s corny for that he wish he was a rapper and producer
I think I’ve just listened to way too many mixtapes in my life to ever s*** on a producer or DJ tag. There’s certain songs that have no dj versions that I grew up with the dj on it and I can’t even listen to it the same cause that’s apart of the song for me.
