Her Loss doesn't sound fundamentally different to Drake's other recent solo s***. $$$4U is just a long form version of the r&b cuts Drake already puts on his solo s***. He's using the same flows, songwriting, and beats for 95% of the projects lol

Honestly Nevermind is a great example of the s*** he should be doing

So which artists are doing this? Ye stopped doing it in 2018, Kendrick hasn't with GNX, Cole has never done this in his whole career. The Weeknd last did it 5 years ago with AH

I just mentioned 3 completely different albums in terms of sound

Her Loss - rap, his usual
    Honestly Nevermind - House album
    $$$4U - R&B album

His competitors can pull this off

Except $$$4U and Her Loss are just... stuff he's already done on his other projects. He's not doing some new Drake take on r&b, he's making the same r&b he's been making for a decade...

  • Mar 7, 2025

and yet he will be my top listened to artist in 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028

think the only time drake wasnt my top listened to artist was 2019 YB took the #1 from him on my AM replay

Like why do you have to spell things out to people, use your f***ing brain

They are talking about the lyrics. Do you think Honestly Nevermind, the house album, sounds the same as $$$4U the R&B album that sounds the same as the rap album Her Loss? No you f***ing idiot, but the person thinks the lyrics are the same. Which is the exact same thing - no, actually FAR WORSE - with Carti

i will say production wise they’re all pretty indebted to each other. same sound palette on each of those albums

Do you think before you type?

    Oh it's just R&B
    Oh it's just house music
    Oh it's just rap

Yes that's the exact point. He can excel in any genre

Let's see Kendrick trying to sing on an entire album or Travis

Ye is still doing it even if the music stinks lol.

    Carti is doing it.

GNX is dogshit, Kendrick has the same problem as of late regardless.

    Thug was doing it inconsistently

If you extend outside of hip hop/mainstream hip hop you can see prominent examples everywhere. Twigs has been doing it for years

she aint lyin, his fans wont love hearing it tho.

drake has been recycling content at best since scorpion

Its like he can't stop making playlist-like albums.

  • Mar 7, 2025

toooons of rock artists if we want to go into that realm

    toooons of electronic artists

frank sounds different with every album. the weekend isn’t a great example but there are definitely albums where his sound takes a left turn

I think you're not understanding lol. None of that is new to Drake. Genres are meaningless. He does all those sounds in the same copy-paste format for years now. Cool, he's singing... but he already made those r&b cuts 1000 times and they sound the f***in same. Frank Ocean is a soul/pop/r&b artist but all 4 of his projects all sound absolutely nothing like each other. They aren't full of songs he's made before, just now with a different title. He reinvented himself with each release even if they were all the same genre.

Look at Carti. He only makes rap, but none of his albums he's making the same rap songs lol

    been this way since 2018

still some good songs here and there though

although to be fair some of the blame for this rests on his producers too. 40’s not really sounding that groundbreaking and original anymore

Exactly. Same melodies, same songwriting, same production. It sounds like he's at work, doing the same s*** that works. Cool for him, but damn... shouldn't we want more?

Does the model of Drake dropping all the music he makes for his fans or the model of Frank and Carti who rarely drop and essentially starve their fans make for a more enjoyable experience tho? For the fans of those artists at least

but like for the house example. he’s not making real house you would play in a set, he’s making pop music with a house-feel which you could argue is already within his wheelhouse

    Same Stale Songs 4 U

  • Mar 7, 2025

Frank made a soul/r&b album with barely any drums and made an all timer.

Can you imagine Drake doing some s*** like this man
