safest time was definitely 2015/2016 but salute lmfao. I could run a Carti/Uzi playlist for 2 hours in my dorm room and nobody would have complained, in fact, niggas would be making SoundCloud requests
he’s just popular rn after a big release and the tour, but the music is still hit or miss after the vamp era, same with Uzi’s Hell era. they confused fans like me cause their platform became, for lack of better word, weird and not cool (ironic cause of the thread title lmfao). it was all hit back then for both of them, from the music to the fashion to the lifestyle to the personality we were getting to the fans listening to it. we not getting a Magnolia type wave, which was the result of everyone being tapped into him, from current Carti

nah i remember getting looks like wtf was this from throwing on self titled sht or 2015 sht cos the nigga "can’t rap" (we were still transitioning from lyrical rap being the standard back then. the lil uzis n cartis were getting hella hate back then ppl forget that lol.) or bringing him up as one of the next stars to look out for in 2017/2019 n niggas would hit me w the wtf? "u mean cardi right? who tf is playboi carti? he got one song lol".

you must have been around a lot of mainstream fans
in ATL and the surrounding Georgia areas, Carti and Uzi was party/smoking music and Yachty was the weird one to listen to lmfao. niggas had been moved on to SoundCloud fully the summer of 2015 when Apple Music came out. niggas wasn’t on no Spotify
niggas were uploading music to SC and listening to artists like Carti, Uzi, ethereal, Father, Key!

yea see, that East Coast/northern bias always got you niggas hella late to what’s not hitting in your cities
down south, them niggas were already seen as too mainstream/overplayed outside of maybe Meek. Drake saved himself down south with the Future tape. Cole is Cole, he just dropped a classic album but niggas was ready to pack him up too for the SoundCloud hate
this DOES NOT MAKE YOU A BETTER RAPPER
Studying other bodies of work actually helps a lot if you have the ability to do literary a***ysis.
My problem is bro picked watch the throne as the pinnacle of inspiration. New Gen is disconnected from the art and now the genre is eating itself alive from its own willful ignorance
You’re weird
You done had some disagreement then being passive aggressive I don’t even know who you are
Me and multiple other users have noticed this about Ron Mexico too
With all that being said, this song been in my head all year. If I ever needed a walkout song it’d be this. S*** just make me feel like the most balling nigga on earth
!https://youtu.be/TWX625J43HA?si=3UDLGB3GfyFiQNutRather listen to stuntin like my daddy tbh
fellas what if you guys are the old lames and the yougins are cool
Would have no problem if all this wasn’t oddly at the same time as social collapse.
But merely pure coincidence
Idk I think the problem is two-fold
Think "regions/regional rap" got s***ted out by RAPPER/MUSICIAN LABELS cuz it's easier to farm. they just prowl their scene for potential competition, and sign whoever they deem worthy into complacency and bad deals, f***ing their career from jump. They might get some easy fast food singles and GRWM tiktok themes, but don't push past that generally
Whereas LABELS in their normal state are s***ting out the INTERNET as its own region, and signing niggas/kids in high school with literally a few songs released and hoping for the best off their own engrained fan base, or by using their easily accessible ad-revenue-based lanes, like pushing for pitchfork reviews, twitch streams, and fan page interaction/management.
Depends on who's asking what "cool" is anyway. More standard middle of the line rap fans aren't going to like a 18 year old's output that's rife with niche internet references and waxing platitudes about skipping class, girl troubles and s***. They're probably not gonna find someone inspired aesthetically by "punk/rock/anarchy" and internet forum culture as cool. And vice versa, because the young niggas are tired of generic flexing, money phones, and strippers in the video as the entire aesthetic. All of it is manufactured by whoever's "team" as well. I'd get more upset at bad teams for rappers than the rappers themselves
that goretex nigga would be the same dude to overlook talent because “buddy don’t dress well”
nigga be hella opinionated about BS and hating on niggas trying, literally practicing multiple instruments including their voice, yet ain’t dropped a song in 5 years but want to talk talent and niggas glaze buddy cause he won a writing award.
nigga want to talk about “rap is the league” when he just a Stephen A Smith. man watch the f*** out
Goretex a real hater. I’ll never forget how goretex posted @LaSean music and said “this your music? I see why you mad…” after lookin stupid in a debate

I feel like there’s nothing wrong with not being as tapped in as you were when you were younger. It’s how things should go, but a lot of people on here are just closed minded.

what type of women are you hanging out with that are listening to Carti
u b surprised how many acc fw underground rap lmao but many got put on thru timeless bro that weeknd cosign did wonders for bros female base
