i already talked to op about the new generation is about 5-10 years behind and were just gonna have to see how this all plays out before we start expecting the next drake or kanye

i dont think you all realize what society has to be like for one of those to pop

i predict the next lit artist that completely changes everything will be around 30 years old, and will continue the discussion about old niggas in hip hop.

the world isnt primed for niggas to come into the league out of high school anymore. the league is rap lol. we have to recognize this so we can start looking for real talent in the right places.

the nigga thats finna change our generation is GROWN right now, they're not a child

the entire older rappers are doing it better thing isnt a buzz topic, its a real reflection of where rap is right now, and currently society and life isnt geared toward the youth brah

    I’ve BEEN saying this

Nobody gives a f*** about that 17 year old rage nigga you think you discovered

Adults create the best art right now and will for the foreseeable future, all the young niggas got anxiety and scared of crowds

If op had this same convo with a bunch of black people everyone would be in agreement lol. These debates are hilarious

I don’t think they would. It really just depends on the age. Like if you’re 25-27 you’re not gonna find Opium or adjacent artists cool but if you’re 12-17 they are probably the coolest niggas out.

It’s like when Uzi, Carti, etc came out for my gen they were the coolest niggas out but a 27 year old at the time isn’t gonna view them that way.

I think a lot of people on this site are out of touch (which there’s nothing wrong with that) and close minded.

It’s only out of touch if Opium was transcending just from being for the children

If they can’t get anybody but 15 year olds to vouch, then the disconnect is on the artist, not the consumer

I’m older than a few of my favorite artists for the most part, but when you fire, you fire.

Depends on where u live. Me and my friends be getting new girls multiple times a month in nyc without having to approach in public. We young too. It’s easier than ever if you know what you doing

you’re getting girls, but is anyone keeping them longer than 10 months?

Bro this is everything. They’re gonna be gen z I think they’re gonna have to ON PAPER but like you said around 30. If Sabrina and Chappell and Taylor’s new peak and SZA and Kendrick’s new peak haven’t told niggas anything…well. But yeah society is at a point where symbolic representation is between the two warring social factions: the establishment - gen x and somehow beyond, and the activists - millennials to early gen z. Those two groups speak to the social condition rn. The voice of the people will most likely be early gen z due to this or zillennials as some like to say

A lot of people outside of that age group do vouch for them, the same way that Uzi for example had a few older listeners when he came out.

I think for this thread we need to define what exactly we mean by cool. Because I would argue that having at least some cool factor is a prerequisite to even having an audience as a rapper. Not counting the rappers who’s main thing is being political like Tom Macdonald

Cliched, d***ged out, YN imagery is burnt out

Gotta defend my boy Tony since he was one person posted. He’s my fav young rapper

  • Oct 28, 2025

Which also ties to the point that it has to be the young people who are actually LIVING to say something that speaks to a generation - possibly generations. That’s what Drake Kendrick and Taylor have. She’s not a rapper but still to the point. Todays teenager can’t speak to a generation in that way cause they’re so detached from what’s actually changing society

The worst s*** they did was try and tear down rappers for actually rapping. I feel like Dj Khaled honestly ruined this s*** with his mysterious music rant. That to me was the point of no return

It is even what made Tyler go back to the drawing board and rework a lot of his stuff
