i dont think you all realize what society has to be like for one of those to pop

i predict the next lit artist that completely changes everything will be around 30 years old, and will continue the discussion about old niggas in hip hop.

the world isnt primed for niggas to come into the league out of high school anymore. the league is rap lol. we have to recognize this so we can start looking for real talent in the right places.

I don’t think they would. It really just depends on the age. Like if you’re 25-27 you’re not gonna find Opium or adjacent artists cool but if you’re 12-17 they are probably the coolest niggas out.

It’s like when Uzi, Carti, etc came out for my gen they were the coolest niggas out but a 27 year old at the time isn’t gonna view them that way.

I think a lot of people on this site are out of touch (which there’s nothing wrong with that) and close minded.

A lot of people outside of that age group do vouch for them, the same way that Uzi for example had a few older listeners when he came out.

I think for this thread we need to define what exactly we mean by cool. Because I would argue that having at least some cool factor is a prerequisite to even having an audience as a rapper. Not counting the rappers who’s main thing is being political like Tom Macdonald

If Sabrina and Chappell and Taylor’s new peak and SZA and Kendrick’s new peak haven’t told niggas anything…well. But yeah society is at a point where symbolic representation is between the two warring social factions: the establishment - gen x and somehow beyond, and the activists - millennials to early gen z.
