WATTBA would’ve sold over 500k if they did promo like WTT and had 7 days of tracking and released a single. Drake also knocked off 40-50k by playing it on OVO sound radio before the drop. People heard it and didn’t feel like buying after that.

165-185k is good for 2 of the hottest rappers in rap making a collab tape. Collab tapes don't usually sell well. WATTBA's numbers regressed because drake and future weren't in the same status or even fanbases. WTT didnt go double plat until streams. It didnt go gold fw. And that was with Kanye coming off MBDTF and Jay being Jay. Collab albums rarely do colossal fw numbers cause one artist isnt as big and the hype is different than a solo album hype.
WATTBA was a second surprise release mixtape from Drake. The first one did 535K first week and WATTBA came 7 months after. Considering it only had 11 tracks, 5 tracking days out of the usual 7 and was Drake's second release of the year, 375K were INCREDIBLE numbers. That's still Future's biggest first week. It would have easily pulled over 450K if it had the full 7 tracking days.

450k is still a drop. Im not gonna do this surprise drop excuse with yall. J Cole had a surprise drop and did like 370k fw. It only had 11 tracks at a time where people STILL BOUGHT ALBUMS. A year later, Views sold 800K PHYSICAL copies first week. 11 tracks is no excuse. It being drake's second release is no excuse. DMX had 1 albums out the same year. One went triple plat. The other went 4x plat. The dropoff is visible. The point is collabs don't sell as much.
