I literally asked you who is the majority of ppl you are referring to? Lmao who are these people? You are dodging the question. It’s okay if you are using Twitter and KTT as a source even though they are just a very loud minority.

i said the majority of people i know irl and online. Said that in the first post. I'm just telling you what ive seen. It's ok if ur experience is different

sales dont actually matter as much as yall think it does its kidna weird how fans focus on this esp cause the artists dont

Sales most definitely matter — to artists, their teams, their labels, to fans and to media.

Only time talk down on the importance of sales is when their favorite artist is flopping in that regard.

Keem had his 2nd LP, his first with any exposure
Don Toliver is not f***ing drake level and didnt have much promotion
Stop discrediting young artists by saying they arent next up cause they arent selling out the BIGGEST GUY IN THE WORLD

No they really dont especially not as much as you think and especially not at this caliber of someone like ye. Its the streaming era, most of the money is gonna be made off merch, touring etc. sales are a very small part of the equation if it cracks the top 10 as a big artist thats all that matters
and its especially not an indication of quality or something you can use as an argument in terms of whos next.

Point is every1 was talking about kanye sales then his album came and went now all of a sudden they dont matter. it's cognitive dissonance.

Streaming definitely does matter, especially for the biggest streaming acts. Drake makes millions off streaming. Seeing as he hasn't toured in the last 2 years, the money he's been able to make off streaming has been important.

And whether you like it or not, numbers matter if you're a mainstream act. It factors into the argument for the legacy of an artist. Success is even more important than acclaim if you're a mainstream act.

No one is comparing any of those acts to Drake but there's something to be said for the fact that they're being touted as the next big things in the game and they can't outdo Drake's 4th, 5th, 6th week numbers and this is Drake's 12th year since blowing up. Drake was outselling every other rapper except Eminem in his THIRD YEAR in the game. There are levels to this s***, that's all.

The argument for the legacy of an artist doesnt have anything to do with the specific numbers of how much they sold outside of a forum like ktt. Mfs know the relevance irl and they know the quality.I promise you when im tlaking with the homies about classic s*** we do not once say "aw yeah it sold 104k too" for man on the moon. After years, no one gon even remember how much an album sold they just gonna remember playing it and seeing it played. views sold an amazing amount first week it is NOT considered the most great or classic drake album by a long shot. same as grad by ye.

I mean hes in his prime when it comes to sales still despite how many years hes been in the game.
yes its a testament to how big he is though.
esp to how well the machine behind him works and how hes promoted his name brand
