Already seeing people say that hated that the scene wasn’t more brutal
But idk man, I really don’t think explicitly showing that is necessary. It’s still a very very dark and haunting moment without showing it
Not they toning down the darkness
they removed helaena's youngest son too, which completely changes the whole dynamic. in the book she was forced to choose one of her sons to die or watch these sickos rape her 6 year old daughter. then when she chose the youngest, they killed the oldest anyways.
went from a sophie's choice horror story to blank faced "the boy is dead"

yeah they didn't handle this well at all ngl
still horrifying
How so?
alicent was there too and they tied both them up and made them watch while it happened. the little girl saw it all too, she wasn't sleep or angled away. a lot more crying and screaming too, but show jaehaera is autistic or something.
as another poster said there was also a younger son and they made her choose which one to kill and then they killed the one she didn't point to so that son would know his mom chose them to die.

I get that people want that just because Game of Thrones probably would've showed at least part of it (I can't remember anything really relating to kids getting sliced open in the first series though. Like displaying that would've been more callous than anything from GoT).
Additionally, if you're trying to make Blood and Cheese look more like horrible, horrible f***ing people rather than bumbling actors that executed on bad intentions, showing does alot more than hearing. I personally know that while those sounds were like a 9 on the bad scale, even just seeing the head of the kid after the fact would've been a 99. Easily the harshest thing that's been displayed on TV in this series
how was it described in the book
they make helaena choose which child will die, then they kill the other one
Btw for book readers, make sure you're spoiling things that could potentially still be relevant in this series
I know there's some things that've been removed, but there's also things that have been rearranged or attributed to different characters as I understand. There can be deaths or ultimatums that end up getting re-used for other characters

how are we supposed to know what's gonna be re-used in the future?

you don't, which is the reason for the spoilers to let the other users decide whether or not they open those spoilers up

I would just think be extra cautious in what you're putting in non-spoilers
not telling anyone to do anything though. I haven't read the books but what if the ultimatum you're describing gets flipped onto another character at some point in this season bc they want to subvert reader expectations (again)? its always a possibility!

Tbh I don’t think GOT showed an explicit killing of a child, especially a very young one
The Hound and Theon both killed a kid before, but neither deaths were shown

Yeah I dont know what people are on about. No way would GoT show a child get graphically beheaded.

spoiled just in case but i i don't see it being re-used. sometimes they just make changes for no reason. happened plenty of times in season 1.

they did show olly being hanged, but he was a much older kid than jaehaerys

I get both sides definitely. Like I said, even just showing the kid's head after the fact would've been way worse than the worse in GoT. I just tried to argue the other guy's point basically.
and hell...we really don't know if they WON'T show the kid's head to Daemon yet (unless it's said they don't in the previews for next ep, I never watch those)
The book is told through the eyes of the maesters and not to be taken as 100% accuracy
