The dragon was available to claim, it was no one’s dragon at that point. If her daughter wanted it, she would have gone after it like he did. He was more passionate about it and got it deservingly so. The dragon would have probably not even been that responsive to the girl.
Also the kids attacked him, he was at a major disadvantage. The kids were jealous he did what he did because he’s a f***ing go getter and destined for this s***.
