He actually drank the Knight coolaid. He thinks people give a f*** about oaths and any of this s***. But in doing so, he reveals the psychopathic nature to this iron clad ridiculous morality.
His decision weakens the dynasty and increases the chances for war where millions will die. If he were a normal person he could have lied and then spent his life banging the queen who he loves and kept up the charade.

I feel like with Cole it’s a bit different ‘cause it’s like what he said, he wanted to marry her to absolve himself. I think he’s truly mad above all about forsaking his oath and the fact that she took something away from him that was so sacred and was basically like “hey we can still f*** though” drove him insane and not really him being jealous
