This is legitimately such a clueless move. There's so much brand recognition behind the HBO name, and they've done a stellar job of keeping that in tact recently with huge, excellent shows like Succession, TLOU, Euphoria, White Lotus, etc. Why drop that? Max is so generic and nondescript. I guess they're just admitting they don't want all this bs Discovery content that they're rolling into the service to be associated with and tarnish the HBO name? Will HBO shows be relegated into their own section of the app??

Also, nobody is going to say "It's on Max" when you ask where a show is available - I think anyone who's familiar with the current iteration of the service will continue to say "HBO Max" because it just makes way more sense and is way more descriptive. Max what??? Dumb. Plus "HBO Max" is fun to say and just kind of rolls off the tongue.

And that $20 / month for 4K is STEEP. Jheez.

Anyway, still the kings of modern-day streaming
