Easier to sit down on my couch turn on my 4K TV and use my Apple TV to go to HBO Max instead of dragging a laptop and connecting to HDMI or dealing with Ads on a website

Fortunately, I'm a big fan of mostly animation and animated shows, and I barely watch any live action shows. So my my shows are easier to watch online pirated with an ad blocker. I don't ever really need to subscribe to any of these apps. I can't imagine how expensive it goes trying to watch all of the big shows across all the streaming apps

hbo max is just gonna become max, will cost a little more, have more programming. not mad at it. seems like a good decision overall
