Reading op I can’t help but think about people 40 years from now talking about our goats of today being forgotten

    No, he’s a legend

In modern conversations about the actual music and goats he still doesn’t come up as much as that status would suggest he should

At this point you have a lot of people who would put people like Andre 3000, Lauryn Hill, MF DOOM, Mos Def, or Pusha T over LL in conversations because of various factors, despite LL’s resume and catalog say that he is in another league from these other artists who remain rap fan darlings

He’s up there with these people whether we put his discography as high or not

There are a dozen or so ‘artful’ rap names that we think look sweet in a top ten and that includes three stacks lauryn hill black thought DOOM and them, high quality of albums notwithstanding. Still don’t unmake other legends

Basically everyone from that era is slept on today

Rakim and Public Enemy are basically the only ones who get respect like that from the younger gen

Ironically not a goat but still a good rapper nonetheless

It doesn’t unmake them but it is a disrespect to them and over time degrades their legacy.

The idea that a lot of the rap fandom would put those names over legends like LL who accomplished more just because of a personal preference towards the “artful” is a problem that has gone too far imo

I hate the black thought pick almost as much as the Andre one at this point. It’s a hype beast safe pick. If we going with a supreme lyricist let’s go Lupe who actually went for delphia and had classic solos and hits without a band

And Andre and Lauryn need to be removed from these talks it’s such a disrespect to people who really rapped

Similar to Ice Cube, I think it's because he's transitioned to primarily acting for so long.

There is no Drake of the 80s. Drake is an anomaly. LL still a goat though.
