Don’t think I could handle that selfishly for personal reasons
Sorry bro. I remember when my dogs stomach flipped over and we had to put her down. She could barely move on the hospital bed but she reached her paw out to me when she heard me. I cried the whole way home
Was telling my gf if he wants he can go after and bite the mail man today if he is being put down. Go out on his own terms
Hard as hell cause other than not eating. He truely is still himself. Gets so f***ing excited when I ask him to go on a walk, does a whole dance and barks excitedly. Still wants to play fetch and never give up. It’s so hard when they don’t even act sick…. Feels like I’m robbing him of more days. But his bloodwork and numbers are so f***ing bad I don’t want him to suffer
Hahah that’s hilarious! Mail man will understand bro.
He’s a strong one. Truly hope you get to enjoy every second you all have with each other!
This happened to me on Juneteenth, I'm still devastated. I'm sorry for your loss.
The cost of a good dog is heartbreak
Sorry to hear that man. I can’t imagine what it’ll be like when my boy’s time comes. I like your idea of letting dude go out with a bang tho. Give him a beer and a fat ass steak and let him go wild in the neighborhood haha

Bro just ate half his bag of bacon bite treats he’s thriving. Making him a fat juicy steak tonight
Sorry @op. I’ve had my cat for only three years and she’s basically my best friend, can only imagine losing your bestie after 7 years

I’m so sorry for your loss fam, losing pets is one of the hardest parts of life, that’s family. at least he had so much love to give and receive during his life
Sorry for your loss brother. That s*** is always the worst.
Sorry for your loss @op and I'm wishing you strength
Beginning of last year, I had to put my 12 year old dog down. Old age was getting to her, she had a stroke the year before and deteriorated. She was struggling to get up and could barely walk. Never dealt with losing a dog from old age before, s*** is incredibly difficult to watch
My 4 year old Jack Russell got out and got ridden over by a car a few months after that
Feel like I've been having a lot of dreams/nightmares about animals since losing those 2
It’s never easy but a day too early is always better than a day too late. I put my dog down in 2023 and it still kills me to this day. If you can, I’d suggest finding someone who can do a home visit versus taking them to the vet so they are in the comfort of their own home versus some strange scary place
100% agree about doing it sooner rather than later. I couldn't face losing my 12 year old and probably enhanced her suffering because I waited so long
I'm sorry bro
Damn I’m sorry to hear that, hope he’s having a great day

I know the feeling
It's never easy, and you never get over it, and I've had many dogs since an infant to now and I raise n train dogs - I've been thru it myself many times and I've seen others go thru it many times
Hope the best for you, and yes imo, it's not fair to force a dog alive when they will basically have no life while alive and attached to needles and machines
You are doing the right thing even tho it is extremely hard and it's f***ed up it has to come to it in the first place
I’m sorry dude that’s a huge huge loss to take on so suddenly too. He looks so stoked in those pictures. You know he had a great life better than he would’ve without you though. That’s your man for life

Well, a good dog on the ground's worth three in the saddle
No matter where you're from
Been many good dog was a friend to a man
But Sam was the greatest one
He was a hound of hounds
He was the wonder of all walkers
He loved howlin' at the moon
He loved treein' that raccoon
Most of all, he was my best friend
And he's gone too soon
He was the runt of the litter, but a plenty mean pup
Put Sam on the scent, and he never let up
Spent his nights on the porch (Sam), chewin' on a bare bone
Now he's underground (Sam), and I'm all alone

3 weeks ago went to the vet cause we moved and to establish a new vet, got bloodwork done and etc. dudes been acting normal and like his old self. Got a call a day later and his bloodwork reveals he is in stage 4 of kidney disease. Complete shock, dude is only 7 years old and acting like his self. Only cares about his ball, loves going on walks and is absolutely ridiculous. Is the sweetest most loving dog ever in the whole world, just likes to cuddle and loves anyone he meets. So fast forward to 2 days ago, he’s still acting somewhat normal but he really hasn’t been eating at all… his anti nausea meds and appetite stimulant meds not really working and not eating anything even s*** he’s not supposed to eat with this disease. We go to his 3 week checkup and get him on some fluids to flush out his kidneys, and take some more bloodwork.
They called back yesterday and his values have nearly doubled since his diagnosis (which was already stage 4). They had us bring him to emergency vet and they had 2 options for us. Hospitalize him and have him on machines for 3-5 days until they get him stable. Kidneys remain permanently damaged, then manage it the rest of his life, and they told us specifically that this is just mitigating it and the values most likely would just spike up again in a week and we would have to repeat this. Or put him down.
Hin being hooked up on machines without us and potentially dying there alone isn’t the way to go, and we arnt ready yet so we brought him home, had friends and family visit yesterday, and today we are just gonna give him the best day possible.
Doctor said he’s not in pain yet, and the meds he’s on disguises it so he doesn’t even know he’s sick. But if we prolong it it will be he is actually in pain and sickly and it’s like flipping a switch and will be awful for him.
We are going to bring him to the vet tomorrow to put him down
this is f***ing awful love this guy so much.
Here’s some pics of the silly guy. His name is Desmond. We named him after the guy in smiling friends first episode they go to make happy cause he always looks so depressed like he wants to kill himself

I'm sorry for your loss. I hope his spirit is free and in good position.
Sorry for your loss brother. That s*** is always the worst.
I am so sorry op losing a long time dog is hard as fucck!
Pitties are so loving and caring. Dont care about the rep they get. You got to own one to know the energy they give

Most loving dog ever. Not violent at all. Literally a cuddle buddy and loves everyone he meets.
Pits get bad reps cause they attract bad owners. If you train them and treat them right. They are the sweetest most loving dogs in the world. And I’m glad I had mine
