it’s just a comment dawg, I actively use a DAW every day and see how it has changed music

the biggest album in the world right now has a YouTube type beat on the intro, no live musicians on the entire project lmfao. s*** has shifted and many people’s ears aren’t tuned to the digitization of instrument sounds which is why artist like Paak tour well or a local musician can play a live band every weekend at a popular bar

But digital music isn’t inherently worse than live music though. It’s just different.

Also, what you’re referring to mostly just exists in the mainstream. There are still PLENTY of musicians in the world with real fanbases that are heavily using live instrumentation in their work

Real. Isnt there some live piano tho lol?

I get what you mean though, I think it’s the “structure” of daws that have taken something away from music. It’s made music more rigid and predictable

well yea cause Drake/40 so I might be under a***yzing on that aspect to focus more on the larger project as a whole which unfortunately lacks in that live instrument area, not saying the music itself suffers as a result, just observing the switch

Also its like the duty of new young artists to make music that will make the older generations go

    Since the 50s at least

Exactly. This has existed for decades upon decades, this is not new.

I agree, I wish someone like Drake would rely more on live instrumentation since he has the financial ability to do so. But that’s just not the kind of artist he is anymore, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with that

I forgot who said it but what you said is why dilla’s beats feel so special. He didn’t put every drum hit and sample in the exact perfect spot which made his beats sounds more real

Seeing nipsey hustle do the marathon album over live instrumentation was crazy. Wish more artists did that for live shows

depends, there’s a big difference between a J. Cole concert (live band) and a Drake concert (DJ). I think it’s harder for Drake to turn his set into Cole’s than it is for Cole to turn his into Drake’s

Correct, but that’s live music, we talking about their recorded work. Cole primarily creates digitally as well

I don’t think you can create the sounds on J. Cole’s beats without incorporating live session players. I mean just listen to the snare hits on Poor Thang, they sound crisp and “echo” like someone is striking an instrument. that’s all I mean by it’s making it worse cause I can’t catch that quality in a lot of Drake’s music as it is made in that YouTube type beat lane, which isn’t a bad thing as he’s good at using producers and the DAW

Having registration open during the beef and the mods banning long time users over nothing is what did it.

This site filled w Redditors now who’s only interest is a rap beef that’s been over for almost 2 years

  • Tbh something similar happened in 2018 and it took at least 3 years to recover

  • Yes everyone has moved on from the beef except for them. All they do is look for “get back” moments because they can’t get over how their boy got cooked.

  • linnabary

I’m looking at the recently active threads and it’s literally all Drake lol these stans finally got let out for recess

whats the issue ? he just dropped 3 projects

niggas always being in there feelings about drake and his fans f***ed everything up

like imagine being mad about fans discussing an artists latest release.

yall could use ur time to hype and big up other artists, instead u use it to just s*** on drake fans for no reason

Imagine if Drake won the beef. His fans would be so f***ing insufferable.

Just look at how they’re moving after an easy W for Kendrick

That just sounds like good sound selection and mixing to me, there’s no drumming credited on that song in the liner notes. I could be wrong though

True I feel like some of those bans weren’t worth it

Pre beef you couldn’t escape a numbers/sales thread when he went on his 2020 run with DLDT all the way thru FATD

Kendrick came back with Morale and was clowned on for him using a “therapy album” as a comeback and they were comparing it to Her Loss and HNVM

Fast forward to the beef they were still insufferable right up until after the two week wait after pushups. They try and rewrite history on here hard

dont think there is anything drake could have done for his haters to not still hate him post beef.

yall 'won' the beef but are still moving as if you lost, which is telling.

just enjoy the music, drake is always gonna be drake.
