More like he sticks out rather than being actively bad.
At least among the adult main characters, every one is trying to evoke their film counterpart. No one is really trying to rock the boat, and I suspect the show is going to do the same. Mark Addy is doing a near-perfect Hagrid and sounds exactly like Coltrane, Hugh Laurie is very reminiscent of Richard Harris’ Dumbledore, McGonagall is very similar, etc.
With that kind of consistency, it’s just odd to hear Ahmed come in with a voice that is nowhere close to Alan Rickman’s. At times he does try to enunciate like Rickman or do the long, drawn out thing, but there’s just no bass in his voice.
