ShooaConspiracy theory/hot take: They didn't have the balls to make James black and remedy the Snape issue. Because a half-black Harry is just a bit too much for them.
One thing I've noticed is, they do all this, but at the end of the day they're still afraid to lose the white male audience. Black guy plays the antagonist? Fine. Black love interest/female friend? That's cool, we can count on black women to support. But a black guy as the main dude? Scares the s*** out of them. Because they don't know who it's for.
They made Annabeth black in the Percy Jackson show, but they would NEVER make Percy black. Same with Harry. Same with most race swaps. They have lines they're afraid to cross.

But then they're also afraid to just have all white casts... They're walking a thin rope trying to please everybody. I prefer they just keep the characters as intended by the author. As a black man, I personally don't care for the race swapping, I prefer new original black characters. example: Instead of making Peter Parker black, introduce Miles Morales

The ScientistI don’t care about the castings. They’re obviously going to be inferior to Dan, Emma, and Rupert. This whole thing is just so laughable. This is one of the few franchises that should wait 30-50 years before attempting a reboot.
Only reason this should be done is if they're making it super super book accurate which clearly doesn't seem to be the case so it will endlessly be compared to the movies and likely be inferior
