    ? what happened

Whole bunch of negative ex employee reviews, hiring massive (like 1/3rd of their dev team probably more) waves of hourly workers instead of keeping a consistent team on a salary, as in ransoms who have decent knowledge of what to do come in for however long MSoft wants until they kick them to the curb, so it’s cheaper for them

Code is a complete mess, super hard to work with and everyone who left a review mentioned this should literally just be scrapped because of how unworkable it is, should just be rebuilt by someone else from the ground up

The work environment is reported to be extremely toxic in every way, there is no proper communication method between devs besides emails, which get flooded by hundreds a day, the game is in extreme crunch right now a la Halo 2 era crunch

There is more, but all of these came from previous employees that left the studio in the last year

eh that's every triple a studio. The industry needs to be improved on all fronts

  • gamesradar.com/halo-3-graphics-to-improve-says-bungie-10

history repeats itself more than a decade later

"Well to be honest, we've seen the graphics praised too," he says. "Multiplayer is by necessity a more sterile iteration of our graphical style and will always be tuned for performance and elegance rather than jamming the screen full of pixels.
"We think that the final aesthetic look of our game will be judged at launch in September and in part based on the more intense single player spaces. We're also focused on maintaining the Halo character and atmosphere in our visual design - we're competing with ourselves, and not simply trying to match the aesthetic of other games."

From what we’ve seen and how this game works it doesn’t seem fully baked and we are 3 months max from this going gold and getting ready for physical production, probably 4 from release

There’s nothing that really can be done, and like I said I don’t care about the visuals that much anymore I just accepted that as long as it plays great I’m okay, especially cause I won’t be buying it, word to game pass

Employees report that the engine they’re using is ‘nearly 2 decades old’ and is essentially putting a bandage on a leaking pipe iirc

  • Jul 29, 2020

Fingers crossed as always but man this going with what we saw doesn’t sound too great

There isn’t a thing they could do this late to blow any expectations out of the water unless they really just get a full dedicated team on addressing the issues that are quite clearly present

Game must go gold in 3 months to meet xbox release window

not saying anything about this game but i know people at studios who talk about how things really dont come together until the last 2 weeks of a project sometimes its hard to say nothing major will happen in 3 months

all we can do is hope the crunch pays off especially if they’re hiring a LOT of temps that work hourly and not on salary

A lot of faces coming and going not even knowing if their work gonna be in the final game
