All jokes aside, Abel's team needs to figure out how they lost 300k streams/physicals worth of listeners.

Like, where was the disconnect this time? I didn't like AH, so I don't count. But there were a lot of people who loved AH who didn't tune in for Dawn FM. They have some serious work to do.

From the beginning of his career up until or around After Hours, Weeknd had maintained a solid Pop/R&B community fanbase that had major overlap with the hip-hop community. It wasn’t until post-After Hours when Weeknd decided to go full pop he straight up lost the hip-hop overlap for the most part as a lot of listeners weren’t tryna hear “white people untz untz cocaine music” (actual quote lmao)

That bundled in with this site and almost every major music IG/Twit page pretty much causing a lil war on the release date with Weeknd vs. Gunna. Gunna had pretty much unified the hip hop community with DS4 which took a decent chunk of listeners off of his hip-hop overlap. Plus casual pop fans being overexposed to Weeknd music over the past 2 years sort of just left Weeknd fans the only ones checking in

Not even surprised, Yawn FM was mid whereas WUNNA came through with the bangers. XO will have you think Abel dropped some niche avant garde music that is only digestible by a small group of music fans when really it was relying on a pretentious gimmick.

Congratulations to WUNNA, out of nowhere defeating the biggest artist of 2020. People were really telling him to move his date but that wouldn’t be 🅿️ now would it?
