Can you show me an example of a game franchise where the follow up of a game releasing, does not impact the previous game's generated revenue at all in the following year?

I’m not trolling. GTA makes a crazy amount of money. Normally I’d agree with you but GTA is the exception where two games could sell at once at a high volume. I mean GTA Online and GTA 5 essentially do that already.

I played the PS2 version of 3 for a bit last year, aiming and pressure sensitive buttons were abysmal

yeah going from playing modern 3rd person shootets to these games will give you an aneurysm

bruh we need swimming mechanics too, how many times did we accidentally drive into the water during a mission and automatically failed

im excited for these but also fully expecting R* to charge full price

I’m pretty used to older games so it’s not the worst for me, but the mission where you have to precisely throw the grenade into the window was some janky s*** for sure.

They compromised in giving you one of the best single player experiences of all time in Red Dead Redemption 2 which should be in a "video game museum". That's fair in my mind.
