i think that John Stewart episode may be one of the best superhero origin stories seen on tv/film
still not sure why they made him into a marine instead of keeping the original architect story

They retconned that in like ‘00 & i’d argue the cartoon version of John is the most well know version of him.

Yeah I like him being a marine as long as we see more into how it influences him

Heroes
Watchmen
Come to mind but yes
still not sure why they made him into a marine instead of keeping the original architect story
I feel like in between 2016 and 2026 he becomes an architect
Think they wanted to combine the two origins for the clash being obedience (marine) & free spirit (architect)
Also notable the guardians only showed up in front of John not when he was marine but when he embrace his artistic side and what he really wanted to do
still not sure why they made him into a marine instead of keeping the original architect story
I like that he never really wanted to be a marine. He just did it because of his parents grooming him to be a Lantern.
Art is where he is truly happy.
The mom was never in the running to be a lantern but makes this entire process about her . Under the guide of being pro black but again traumatizing her husband and child by having them risk killing each other to appease an alien space force that she claims to find ignorant of race .

It’s definitely the most nuanced and complex origin I’ve seen. Which makes it the most interesting to watch.
Heroes
Watchmen

Heroes S1 is a classic, although I got a soft spot for S2

Heroes struggled due to writers strike and I didn’t know about behind the scenes grooming . But it addressed race and reality pretty well with the mix of heroes . It was damn near a good x men show for me

Grooming??? This is news to me

Yeah I didn’t know Milo dated Hayden til two weeks ago lol
The discourse online about race being factored into the EP is actually hilarious.
The people that have made everything about race get so uncomfortable when race is brought up in any capacity. Then try & gaslight ya into thinking you’re a race baiter
Lay in the mess you made lol
“ the whole what aboutism for alien discrimination “ . Do you not see the first time meeting an alien disguised as a white woman to explain race relations as odd ?
She didn’t explain, more so admonished the Guardians lack of forethought in consideration of what’s happening onEarth. If they’re an alien race, that are acting as literal Guardians of the galaxy, have technology capable of allowing them to travel light years in distance, in order to secure, and recruit new aliens to the Green Lantern Core, asking them to do some background research ain’t that far fetched.

That was a dark time. Quantum of Solace writing was complete ass
The mom raising the racial divide with the alien was probably her way of highlighting macro-managing has its own set of blindspots that the aliens hadn't considered. That's if I'm looking at this from a different angle.

Aliens are alien like I get it but you would think the same about the man hunters . To have more knowledge to fit in . Learning all of what we know about race and reality isn’t learned instantly . I got it . While at the same time does a mom who again is having her child aim at his dad knowing the trauma it will create to join the lantern core care about race fully ? On the 1% chance he kills his dad or vice versa

This I agree with
