Episode 7 had great writing imo
I like a lot of the writing tho
I am saying by and large knowing the show wont really be on space and knowing how pisssed fans would be about that the writting and telling a story should have come above everything. At moments it doesnt. The writers including Vanessa view of blackness that they have discussed on the podcast both the official and none official has some things they need to view with the feedback they are getting.

this is again a terrible view.

it does get confusing when Watchmen used more special fx. It begins to partially feel like was Chris Mundy the showrunner for this were the directors the ones to do it.
why a director that has such limited work on a show with any special fx
Tom King on why John Stewart’s Lantern oath was different:
"What we see at the end is that John is not 100% a Green Lantern anymore. He has a Lantern that has a bit of yellow in it, has a bit of fear in it. It's an unsanctioned Lantern, as Guy says. He's not saying the same oath as every other Green Lantern because he's not like every other Green Lantern."

Buddy on the table said "You can take issue with their methodology but not their motivation."
Isn't that also how villains are made
Overall I'd say that the parents took a psychological toll on all the kids and not just John. The resentment is just quietly displayed from all siblings and that's one part about the show I found interesting. These children now adults don't seem that well adjusted. John is repressed. The other siblings floundering in their own ambitions. Could they have been more fleshed out as characters? Sure.
As for the writers intentions, it doesn't matter vs what came off on the screen, and the parents are more messed up than they are grey
I mean I get it lowkey lol
like i do too but its just ehhhhhh lmfao
i think it coulda just been done better

their methodology that they compare to raising a Serena Williams or a Tiger Woods. Lead to issues in his modern day life. He didn't get the ring or become a lantern because of their training lol. How he got the ring is essentially corruption less than about fear. Their actions had consequences. Yes he got power and yes he got money that he again gives to a white woman as reparations.
the writers have handled many situations like this again including where someone on the podcast they went at called some of his writing an a24 black.
they didnt like that
they are digging some graves
like i do too but its just ehhhhhh lmfao

Facts. Hal went out too sad lol and they'd already phased him out by episode one, like s***, at least give him a solid way to go out 😭🥀

This annoying the f*** outa me
Could have showed abin surs crash
Or Hal getting ripped out his room
They couldn’t even show John’s dad’s test

Bruh.
The concept of a man flying is like my sweet spot in any film TV etc. they did it so well before. When I realized John was bout to fly I got fully throbbing erect and pulled my s*** out. My wife went and got the Jergens for me
Then this nigga lifted mad crooked into the sky like some 1990s wire work.

Dark Lantern
I genuinely agree again this show is very neo liberal. Parts of it for that reason make no logical sense.
John f***ing a random woman multiple times makes no sense having that level of trust in her.
These are the woke discussions I like

Dark Lantern
first black green lantern is dark lantern who flys off to a song singing negro and I cant eye roll

the manhunters power is that they are from another planet and explode

Idk if I would outright dismiss everything John was raised on because it pushed his story arc to the choice that inadvertently made him butt heads with Guy Gardner, whether John was consciously aware of this or not
Its what i get though when I heard Tom King I should have known and the black writers they choose for this who have no shows that are hugely successful or resonate with me.

yeah still removed fear from him. He became determined to be the best in all ways physically as well. joining the service. it still feels so different from the character I love but at least the character exist. doesnt change many of the things he does like giving a random woman he meets in a bar too much information then having s***with her multiple times doesnt even match the character they themselves choose to present

no green light and one of the most insulting songs to play for the final moments lol
