Pinnacle of hip pop
i think i'm pretty hip when it comes to super mainstream pop artists which is my lane of music that i'm currently driving through, i listen to chappell, sabrina, orod, pinkpantheress, tate mcrae, and i'll include artists who broke through during the 2010s like ariana, charli, bieber, abel, and drizzy who are still creating reinventing themselves and thus why they still hold the interest of gen z at large.
the moment someone stops listening to newer artists is when that curiosity muscle stops getting exercised, i see it as a a way of keeping my teen self alive as that's what i did then and have flourished my ears which some of the greatest sounds made by man and i never want that to end.
they hold the interest of gen z because they were the last of monoculture that were forced on to us as the only options we could choose, but there was many other artists with deep lore that were popular during that time, especially once you look in the pop EDM lane. yea it’s cool they can reinvent themselves, but again, people are banking on nostalgia and those artists (aside from Drake) had to go through some down ass years just to make those reinventions lol
at least you not all the way unc, you just in a different lane of music discovery. but it’s very easy to go to Orods first album (2021) and see what new rappers were big then (Little Simz, Polo G, MIKE, Doja Cat, Megan) and repeat that for all their releases and now you tapped into what’s been happening with new rappers in the 2020s cause they were also equally growing alongside their pop peers
How many albums from other genres are doing a billy rn?
very curious to know what % are uncs revisiting it vs youngins getting into it/recently discovering it
