When the movie peaks in the opening scene...Sam Rockwell in that restaurant was gold. I thought I was really gonna enjoy this off the bat. Then the rest of the movie happens. None of the character vignettes landed for me, either way too heavy handed or played out, Black Mirror style stuff but worse. The last act was a big mess. There were definitely people in the audience laughing at the jokes and having big reactions to all the crazy s*** going on, so this just didn't end up being for me.
This is exactly how I felt about Y2K.
I feel like GLHFDD was Hollywood's apology to me for how disappointing Y2K was.

Haha! Never ended up checking that one out
Seeing a lot of either this was the best thing ever or this was a stink fest.
I thought it was fun and cute, but a bit too on the nose at times. There times where the commentary feels played out and feels like a black mirror. The only reason I’d recommend seeing this in theatre is to keep the theatre experience alive.
Was excited for Verbinski to bounce back. Doesn't sound like the movie for me. Will just rewatch Cure for Wellness I suppose
Meh

A lot of people I trust telling me this is the worst thing they’ve seen in years
Saw it.
I loved the opening diner scene but the film kinda loses steam after. Really didn’t like the idea of doing the long ass flashbacks especially after the opening scene, s*** had me engaged to see what happens next just to be hit with a 20 min flash back

My exact thoughts. The diner scene had me thinking I was watching an absolute classic… then the black mirror flash backs happened…. And then as the story progressed I kept asking “what was the point in rallying up people they haven’t even done s***?”
Is this Everything Everywhere All At Once-core?
the humors a lot darker. a lot of people get killed in this

I definitely think they could've trimmed Ingrid and Sam Rockwell's character back stories a bit IMO. But maybe it's because I guessed the twist between them from a mile away.

Twist aside I still don’t get what purpose the others served lol

Extended flashbacks are so tricky to do. More often than not, I dislike them for that reason

I think my issue is majority of the team essentially served no purpose.
As great as the diner opening scene is, looking back after the movie is over it seems kinda pointless that he did all that.
