It’s not considered that crazy of a snub tbh. Most award predictors had him at best 5th best chance to get nominated. Early on it’s clear that no matter what the voting body is, they all seem to love Frankenstein + Del Toro (who he was likely competing against for that final slot) is pretty much a darling at this point.

Didn’t realize Frankenstein had that much momentum behind it
